Yes, time for prayers.
Lord God, protect our men in battle and bring them safely home, victorious in the cause of freedom. In Jesus' Name,
Amen.

And the idea of a freaking 105mm howitzer firing DOWN from an AIRPLANE never fails to blow my mind. You can run, you'll only die tired.

Couple of nights ago on Hardball, Biden said the "only good thing to come out of this failed policy" will be that America will be so depleted, defeated and demoralized, the administration will "not dare" attack Syria or Iran I always knew the war would make it more clear who are the wolves in sheep's clothing...

Iran is making their move because all other indirect attempts have failed to stop US progress in Iraq. My concern is when the Sadrites fail, will Iran commit her volunteers into the war? Is US troop position and intel prepared for such an outcome? As long as the Sadrites fight in open battles, they will be destroyed, but on the other hand if they choose to fight as guerilla forces, we will be hard pressed.

"Coming under fire, the ICDC, a paramilitary force trained by the Americans, turned on the US soldiers and started to shoot at them, according to Amid."
"The soldiers fled their vehicles and headed for cover and then began to battle both the Mehdi Army and the ICDC members, he said. Their vehicles were set ablaze."
All the more reason to kill them all and let Allah sort them out!

First, 'significant' doesn't mean a thing. Every soldier is significant in my book, so one or two could be the case.
Second, every Marine is a soldier first, so admin staff grabbing rifles is not that 'significant' either.
How long before Freepers stop worrying about breathless reports from the news, before they have any real facts? Does anyone really think that the MARINES are not prepared to deal with a bunch of thugs in scarfs?

FoxNews: one Marine claims over 80 enemies killed in first swarm of Sadr's minions on our troops at the base in Ar Ramadi.
Prayers going out for our troops and allies.
Bret Baier: fighting started around 1PM EST, battle is intense "not like any other firefight we've seen so far." Commanders say this is extreme fighting. Sadr's pals.
Significant US KIAs.

Uprising in Iraq: 2 battlefronts, over 130 dead.
FoxNews is repeatedly playing Sadr's propaganda films.
Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that the finest young men and women have gone forth from this country in the cause of liberty and freedom. You have blessed this nation as no other, and we praise You that these sons and daughters are Your greatest blessing. Watch over them where they are ... grant them success in their missions, for they seek to liberate and not to enslave. Equip them with the greatest courage, yet with the most tender of hearts, that others might be drawn to their resolve and their compassion. Return them safely to their families, we pray ... yet we know that some will return to You before they again see their families. Mark this grief upon our hearts, that we never forget that liberty is etched in blood. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...

The only problem with their logic is that our war fighters have read that book...and are in the processes of shoving it up their six... Another logic problem is that we have more resources than they can start fights. Sucks to be them.

Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, warned yesterday that the United States is now "dangerously close" to losing control on the ground in Iraq.
"We're talking not only about the insurgency, partly by outsiders, but also about a religious dynamic that is very difficult to deal with," Hagel said in an interview. "You have the most combustible elements at play here. If it all blows at the same time, Abizaid knows that we probably will not get control of it again." Ole Chuck never misses a chance to stick his finger in the wind and to then re-position himself based on which way he perceives the wind to be blowing.

Tell me about it...really PO's me. And your right, the real truth may never be broadly known. Given that there were 8 million people that where in the armed forces during that period - not all of them in VN, obviously - it is truely scary. I do run into young people and tell them some of the truth of it and point them to literature or websearches and they do come to see they have been lieed to.
The other great lie about that war is the supression of how many people died in VN, Laos and Cambodia after the pullout. It was in the millions. You will never get a leftist to cop to that one, even if you put the figures and the photos right in front of them! I have all but given up on it.
That is why someone like Oliver Stone is a real SOB. He should know better, he had the forum but he continued the lies. I would like a chance to talk to him out behind the latrines...

If we were to level this area with air power, would it make matters much worse, ie, inciting radicals all over the country, or would it serve as a prudent example to others to stop this nonsense?
Are these people reasonable, or stupid? They literally want to bite the hand that feeds them.

I'll pray this is more "Roarke's Drift" (the site in the movie "Zulu") and not Islandwanda (a British "Little Big Horn").Victor Davis Hanson's book Carnage and Culture dissects the Roarke's Drift battle. Great book which should be required reading for anyone interested in understanding and preserving western civilization.
