52 - "I think FR is being singled out. I see articles from these places posted in Yahoo groups and other websites all the time. None of them (to my knowledge) has ever been threatened in this way."
I think you are right. I think the liberals saw the power of FR in the last election, and perhaps we even got Bush elected by trying to keep them straight in Florida and FReeping other places, and the election is coming up.
So the liberals are trying to pull our teeth before the election.

Complete and utter (not to mention stupid) nonsense. Tell me how refusing to allow us to post even a link to their sites is going to "drive traffic to their sites?" This ought to be rich.

Someone (not sure on which thread) suggested that instead of posting the usual sources, post links to the lib sites that are free (no threats of lawsuits are evident) to post the entire article. Maybe we should.

So the liberals are trying to pull our teeth before the election. And with our acquiescence, they have succeeded. I don't have any links, but I do know there were several reports that FReepers proved were blatant lies put forth by the Media that were revoked after they were called on and exposed. Those prior lies were retained and exposed in the articles kept on FreeRepublic; they were stricken off the sites that initially posted them.
Some have called for the FReepers to set up their own reporting. We indeed have the Right to do that; I doubt that we would ever be granted the Privileged Access ^ that our Corporate-run government has put in place without a second Revolution.
Back when the WP/LAT too FR on, this is what Jim was fighting for:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of the press If you want to see just how far away from these Rights we have gone, I would ask you to visit this column and supporting info at WorldNetDaily ^. If there is any doubt that the WP/LAT vs. FR lawsuit has allowed a molehill to become a mountain -- that proves it. Now the folks that wish to report on governmental or political excess not only have to fight the Corporate Government, they are also tied to the Judicial policy of stares decisis and Justice will remain blind to our Rights.
I understand why Jim and FR had to settle -- we would not be here otherwise, as FR would have been shut down along with a number of other sites. I am grateful for the knowledge and info I find daily here, and for the vast breadth of informed FReepers that post here. I don't agree with everything or everyone, but it is all appreciated.
Thank you, Jim.
Cheers,
Mike.

Universitystar.com. . .wow, my ol school. Must have been the mocking we gave the Star for publishing a while back an article that was horribly offensive and foul and offensive. My, my. . .what crybabies. They should have had the courage of their belief's and stood up and defended their public voice. But noooo. . . .
And today, when I checked in out of curiosity, I see vandals defaced the veterans memorial.
The usual tolerant lefty libs on campus spray-painted Kill Bush on the memorial. Such compassion and sensitivity. A student quoted in the article stated, There is a code of ethics for having your voice heard with a political message, Parker said. People get so angry with the methods used, they dont hear the message. Well. . .I dunno about you but the message I got was to heck with good and great and selfless men, its all about me. Yup, Ill just bet this same dolt, and all the other lefty libs on campus, are desperately reaching for excuses to mitigate the guilt of the vandals, if not justify their actions.
To: Jim Robinson; All
First, Jim, I really want to thank you for this site.
I really have no objections to links, except for two situations, such as the Registration requirement at sites such as the Washington Post [something that DRUDGEREPORT has found a way around], and until recently, the proliferation of pop-ups when visiting a site, which often crashes my computers.
I have found the site even more useful because I now use Juno [NOT a plug!!] which sports an effective Popup Blocker, and using Windows ME and Windows XP [DEFINITELY NOT a plug!!!], which permits me to save files as single file format...(*.mht), which almost always works.
Again, thanks for the site...

Jim,
I know you're under a lot of pressure about this exceprting. Left wingers don't want a trail of published articles that can be easily searched. Once the publisher purges the article, no one can quote from it or refer back to it without a long search through the paper copy (if one existed). This is a way of making their electron trail disappear whenever they want it gone.
Maybe emphasize that Freepers need to post the most damning part of the article so there's at least a piece of a record of it here. FR is an extremely valuable research site if for no other reason that it contains copies of articles long since expunged from the Internet.
Good luck in all you do.
