The reverse is actually more accurate: non-Catholics are not supposed to take communion at a Catholic service, whether its Roman or Eastern rite. Catholics are not barred from receiving communion at non-Catholic services. However, since Catholics believe in transubstantiation as opposed to consubstantiation, the question is why on earth would a Catholic receive communion in the circumstance?
The answer: if the media runs a picture of such a Catholic, many will believe that said Catholic is still being warmly embraced by his mother church without realizing that said Catholic is not actually pictured IN his mother church.
In short, Kerry wants folks to believe that Rome is his friend.
