LAKE WINOLA, Pa. (AP) A lakeside cottage owned by U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's family was slightly damaged in a fire that destroyed an adjacent home. The fire at a ranch home in this small vacation community about 115 miles north of Philadelphia broke out Friday morning. The home was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived.
Three children and a baby sitter were home when the fire started but escaped unharmed. The cause remains under investigation.
The Rodham cottage sustained heat damage on the side and water damage inside after several windows were broken, firefighters said. Tony Rodham, Clinton's brother, was notified at his residence in Washington, D.C., officials said.
The New York senator's late father, Hugh Rodham, grew up in nearby Scranton. While raising his family in suburban Chicago, Hugh Rodham returned to Lake Winola for regular vacations with his wife and children.
The two-story cottage is 100 yards uphill from the lake, where Clinton swam as a child.

You can't take off from a shake roof with your broom's afterburners on!

In 1994, he married Nicole Boxer, daughter of U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., in a Rose Garden ceremony -- the last wedding to be held at the White House. They divorced last year.
You will notice that the media never has pictures of any of this. They are scared to death of Hillary Clinton.

You mean you didn't think about the safety of any dead bodies she might of left behind in the fire.
To: HAL9000
I doubt if Hillary Clinton has ever been swimming in her life. She was too busy trying to rule the world.

I hope for their sake that she didn't swim naked. Lots of blind fish in that lake.

Cottage, ha! More like shack...
Lake Winola home gutted; Rodham cottage damaged
BY BRIAN CLARK AND MATTHEW KEMENY / STAFF WRITERS 04/03/2004
LAKE WINOLA -- Fire destroyed a local home and damaged two others, including a cottage owned by Hillary Rodham Clinton's family, on Friday morning.
The fire, at a ranch home on Route 307 at Pete Hill Road, broke out at 9:30 a.m. The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.
"I only live around the corner and when I got here it was through the roof," Fire Chief Marty Bonifanti said.
The charred remains of the 10-year-old home continued to smoke through the early afternoon as fire inspectors began to sift through the rubble. Chief Bonifanti said he could not put a dollar value on the loss.
Nobody was injured in the blaze. Rescue workers were unsure whether a family dog and cat escaped from the home.
Firefighters said three children and a baby-sitter were home when the fire started and left the structure when it began to burn.
Jeremy Campbell, whose home is six feet south of the burnt home, said he had worried about fire since that building caught fire last year. He immediately left work when his wife called him and said she saw smoke.
"There was smoke coming out at the time" was Mr. Campbell's description of the scene when he arrived. "But (then) it just went."
The Red Cross had offered help to Dawn Minich and her four children, who lived at the home, Chief Bonifanti said, but the family was expected to stay with relatives.
The Rodham family's home had heat damage on its side and water damage inside after several windows were broken, firefighters said. Mr. Campbell's home sustained heat damage, boiling paint off the siding. Chief Bonifanti estimated the damage to both of the neighboring homes at $1,000.
Tony Rodham, Hillary's brother, was notified at his Washington D.C. residence shortly after the blaze.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday evening and interviews are being conducted, Chief Bonifanti said.

Here's a theory:
Tony passes out with a lit joint in his mouth. Okay. So the "cottage" catches fire and takes some damage. But this could be embarrassing so in order to cover up the mishap (and after a quick phone call to Hillary), the Rodham brothers slip next door with some gasoline and a pack of matches and set fire to the ranch home.
Entirely plausible.

Tony Rodham, Hillary's brother, was notified at his Washington D.C. residence shortly after the blaze.Sure. And OJ was in Chicago when he was "notified" about his wife's murder.
To: HAL9000
Don't worry, with that demon belch Hillary having lived there before, it was probably constructed out of asbestos.

I sure hope her dog, "Buddy," made it out O.K.
Oh, I forgot...sorry.
My own little dog still harbors a grudge about Buddy's untimely death. "The day the barking died," is what my dog calls it.
