Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly and nationally syndicated radio host G. Gordon Liddy are blasting each other in a mini-feud ignited by media libs Paul Begala and Al Franken. The stone throwing apparently started Thursday night, when Begala, hosting "Crossfire," asked Liddy about why his Westwood One colleague O'Reilly "hasn't done very well on radio."
Citing a year-old Drudge report, Liddy said the top-rated cable TV host's radio ratings are "in the toilet."
"He really doesn't do radio well at all," the G-Man added.
Friday afternoon, Liddy guested on Al Franken's radio show, where both hosts took shots at O'Reilly. [To the astonishment of fans and foes alike, Franken announced that he was a personal friend of Liddy's, referring to him throughout simply as "G."]
Friday night, O'Reilly fired back, reading a press release about the brouhaha from Westwood, which syndicates both their shows:
"During appearances on two cable news programs yesterday Westwood One personality G. Gordon Liddy made statements about 'The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly' which are totally inaccurate and in no way represent the views of Westwood One.
"Westwood has so advised Liddy and forwarded to him the true facts about the program. In less than two years on-the-air 'The Radio Factor' has become one of the most successful talk shows in the country. In addition to its high ratings and large audience, the program is also a home run with advertisers."
The statement didn't much impress Liddy, who said he stands by his original comments.

There is some validity to Liddy's statement. O'Reilly's ratings are low enough in the Omaha market to move the replay of his show to the 5 pm hour. When the announcement was made this past week, the program director said O'Reilly just can't compete with Rush. They're running a local talk show during that time slot.

It is pretty disturbing, isn't it?
There's a long list of talk show hosts who I never want to see in a Speedo.

The fair and balanced Bill O'reilly becomes unbalanced under the right conditions. Use a little sarcasm from G. Gordon as a catalyst and the fun begins.

O'Reilly has a radio program?

Bill's feud with Franken sure ignited Franken's success. For someone who endlessly dishes it out, Bill sure has thin skin.

Liberal hosts have always known that they build their audiences by having the least desirable, more controversial targets of their listeners on their shows. To them Liddy represents the worse aspects of that "national disgrace" Watergate.
Just look at how the media uses Jerry Falwell. Why do these conservatives continue to let themselves be used? Because their own need for exposure gets the better of their judgement, or possibly, even their own common sense.

Well, let's see the facts. I'm open to them, but that Westwood statement carried only unsupported assertions. I hope O'Reilly does well, so don't have a dog in the hunt. And he's darned sure doing better that Liddy, I'm sure, with number of listeners (I'm equally sure not as well with content).
But your statement presupposes there are "facts" that refute Liddy. Let's see 'em.

"He really doesn't do radio well at all," the G-Man added. Got to agree with the G-Man here. The Radio Factor is a totall non factor. Talk about a real yawner. Bill's tv show isn't that bad in small doses. Don't know why Bill felt the need to do a radio show as well. Wasn't like he needed the money.

I think O'Reilly did the radio show just to prove he was better than Rush and could beat him at his own game. If he wanted to do radio, he should have picked a different time frame. Maybe 2pm EST time, when some of the Rush listeners are starting to get bored and switch. I like O'Reilly some times, but cannot take him every day. He's too full of himself and how he is always right.

When Liddy starts schmoozing with the likes of Baldy Begala and the ever Feckless and insulting Franken Liddy must be off his Meds.
Why a Conservative such as liddy starts warring with each other the Leftists and liberals love it.
Liddy has gone down a couple of pegs in my book.

That's one disturbing photo. Liddy really thinks he's some kind of super-stud...ten bucks says that it's a thong.
But please don't post any confirming pictures.
