[Bombshell: KERRY not validly married?] MEDIA INTEREST IN KERRY’S CATHOLICISM GROWS

Catholic League president William Donohue commented as follows:
The Catholic League does not possess a theological micrometer that judges, with digital precision, how good a Catholic is. Furthermore, it is not our business anyway. But it is also true that we will not pretend disinterest in subjects that touch on the issue of Catholics in public life.
This weeks issue of Time magazine says Senator John Kerry sought an annulment of his 18-year first marriage before marrying again. News reports indicate, however, that Kerry didnt seek an annulment until after he married Teresa Heinz in a civil ceremony in 1995. Todays New York Times says Kerry sought an annulment from the church when he was divorced from his first wife. Notice that neither Time nor the New York Times says that an annulment was granted. They say it was sought.
Kerry cannot claim that this is a private matter since he publicly joked about his quest for an annulment on the Don Imus show of May 8, 1997. Seventy-five percent of all annulments in the world take place in the United States, Kerry said, and I guess the figure drops to 50 percent if you take out all Massachusetts politicians. He continued saying, Its one of those special Catholic things. Its like confession or feeling guilty about things you havent even thought of doing.
On February 16, 2004, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Kerrys office didnt respond to several e-mail and telephone requests regarding the question of whether an annulment was granted. On March 23, 2003, the Providence Journal-Bulletin said that Kerry will not say whether he obtained an annulment of his first marriage
. Why the reticence, especially since Kerry says his current marriage is in good graces with the church?
Why does this matter? If Kerry did not receive an annulment, then he is not married in the Catholic Church and cannot receive the sacraments. But even if he was annulled, did he and Teresa Heinz get married in the Catholic Church following the annulment? If not, then Kerry is not married in the Church, thus raising all sorts of questions.

Whatever the details and the occasion, Kerry is evidently of the culture of relativism. The Oval Office is not the place for the culture of relativism.

I have incredible empathy for someone who had to end a marriage. The pain of that is enormous. I will not, however, leave an open-ended charge leveled at me as being some kind of Catholic basher by another forum member (not you) to remain unanswered.
I hear a lot on this forum of charges of Catholic bashing. I think you and I could agree that the blanket counter charges of religious bigotry on others who make even the most remote statement regarding anything concerning the church is just as specious and unproductive.

Huh? Just as I figured. Defies logic and common sense. Redefining marriage to keep church attendance up? Truly you can't buy into this nonsense. EIGHTEEN years later with TWO kids and the "marriage" should be annulled - LOL! Only an idiot could buy into such twisted nonsense. Hey, believe whatever feels good ... .

I was interested to read from your post that your wife, as a witness in the annulment proceeding, had to undergo an "inquisition" from a bishop. The procedure must vary significantly based upon time (unclear how long ago your friend sought annulment) and location. For instance, in my experience, the only personal interview is with the applicant (and respondent if he/she chooses). Witnesses submit written statements only, although they are advised that they may be "contacted" for additional information. I suppose that could include personal testimony. I guess the procedural aspects of the process vary significantly depending on location, time, and the specifics of a case.

Did you ever hear the story of what the Clintons did after he lost his first re-election bid for Attorney General in AK ..?? (this was after the rumors of the Juanita affair). He and Hillary went to another little town where there was a church who broadcast their services every Sunday. Clinton joined the choir - and every Sunday there he was looking like an angel singing in the choir. Even more... I have read that Clinton angled to get assigned the seat in the choir that was behind the pastor, so that he would get maximum airtime in the broadcasts. Whenever the camera showed the speaker (which would be most of the time) guess who it would show sitting right behind him?

In order to have an annulment from the Catholic Church you have to go before a tribunal and they have to grant that to you after the tribunal and that is only if they think there are grounds for one. Unless there is proof that he did that - he is still legally married to his first wife in the eyes of the Catholic Church.

ROTFLOL! OMG I never never knew that part! These people are even more pathetic than I thought!!
And .. today, here's Kerry being "seen" in church again - claiming he's a good Catholic and his positions on abortion and gay marriage are HIS business. I'm not sure GOD sees it that way, however.
It was really funny watching him on the news video - most people were ignoring him and he kept looking around to see if people were noticing he was there .. he better be careful, that lightening bolt will be HOT!!
And .. just for balance, WHEN PRESIDENT BUSH GOES TO CHURCH - IT'S PRIVATE - HE DOESN'T GO THERE TO GET FACE TIME. Bush never has and he never will. The day after Bush became President, he held a prayer meeting - NO PRESS WAS ALLOWED. No democrat would do that - they would have wanted the world to SEE them praying .. THESE PEOPLE MAKE ME VOMIT.
Jesus said, if you want the world to SEE you praying, you have your reward already. Better to pray in private and then GOD will reward you openly.

Maybe
inquisition was too strong of a word. A cross-examination would probably be more apt. It was in the early '80's and by phone as the Bishop was from a diocese in Wisconsin where our friend lived.
Anyway the point I was trying to make was that seeking an annulment after being married a considerable amount of time and having children from that marriage is not treated lightly by the church.

It turns out Kerry must be worried that he might be refused communion. This morning - Palm Sunday - he and Ter-ray-zah did not go to the Catholic church. They went to a Protestant church. I didn't get the entire name but part of it was A.M.E.

I guess he has a long face because he either has to straighten up and fly right or go to hell, and he's having too much fun to straighten up and fly right, but hoping the supreme court of his home state will outlaw hell in time to do him some good.
