Very Awkward Facts

The credibility of Clinton counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke has come under withering fire. He has been caught in error after error, omission after omission. I can attest to one error more: a highly revealing error that tells us a great deal about who Richard Clarke really is.

Otto,it's very possible Iraq may have carried out an attack involving WMD : the infamous Anthrax Letters.

1. The material in the envelopes corresponded to a type Iraq was known to have been experimenting with;
2. An American citizen-now out on bail on espionage charges involving Iraq-allegedly met with her Iraqi controller in NYC on or about the date of the first mailing. She may well have dropped "a bit of something" in the mail in nearby Princeton the day before this meeting. (Lord knows there were Islamic safehouses in that area !)

To expand on my post: smoking gun of WMD may never be found. That is emphatically not the same as the war's justification doesn't exist. Saddam may have been involved in a conspiracy to work with terrorists with a suitcase nuke. His resources, power, technology, buku terrorist connections and overwhelming desire to hurt the US made the Iraqi regime very dangerous indeed, despite the containment fetishists.

At the same time, very likely the WMD did exist. But get used to to the fact that Bush will have to win without uncontrovertible evidence of it.

I agree completely. But what about the Saudi's? Weren't 15 of the 19 hijackers from Saudi Arabia? Why haven't we done more yet to address the threat from that repressive regime?

Bomb em all and let God sort it out

I think Saudi Arabia should be help accountable but it is important to differentiate between a country we had 12 years of diplomatic frustration and sanction which did not work against a country that has just entered the radar so to speak. But I would certainly put the screws to them along with Iran and Syria. Their scared of us now, lets turn the screws.

I agree. I posted somewhere else about how baffling it is that the FBI closes down these avenues of investigation.

The fingerprint card in Mr. Karim's file had to have been switched. The original card bearing his prints was replaced with one bearing Yousef's. The only party that reasonably could have done so is Iraq, while it occupied Kuwait, for the evident purpose of creating a "legend" for one of its terrorist agents.

Wow. Bump for highly curious, very significant facts.

You may want to reconsider posts with such large advertisements. Since this is your first day posting, I would recommend looking around before trying to make FreeRepublic a source of advertisement.

There are some more subtle ways people provide links to their own web site.

Just my 2¢, not worth even that.

The book, "The New Jackals", written by Simon Reeve in 1999 and updated after 9/11, makes many connections between Ramzi Yousef and Iraq.

This book is very well written and researched. Anyone who has NOT read this, might want to peek at the reviews over on Amazon.com. Pretty scary stuff.

Well, the Pubbies are having their lunch handed to them and a little shreiking is in order.
I am afraid that the uniformed, disinterested voter, over whom both parties are fighting will hear their yells and not the measured voices of reason and fact based explanation.
HOWEVER, as long as the polling remains strong as it is, my analysis is probably wrong.
The October surprise comment was mostly wishful thinking on my part. I agree that Sadazz was a definite threat and was linked to terrorists, tho dumblecrats are quick to recite their mantra that it wasn't so.
Your points ring very true.

I have just been surprised that the Repubs have not mentioned Yousef at all. A while back I remembered that Mylroie had written a WSJ OpEd in the early 90's titled "Who is Ramzi Yousef?". I couldn't find it (without paying), and I have been wondering why nobody is talking about that connection of Iraq w/911. I am glad to see that she is still out there, and has brought this back up.

Actually here is a longer article by Laurie Mylroie describing the 1993 bombing and the information on Yousef.

6 - "There was a report yesterday [or so] from Austrailia from some former scientist claiming that the stuff was hidden in "secret bunkers" one such being under an island in the Tigris. "

This particular story surfaced about a year ago, and apparently still hasn't been settled. Something strange is going on.
