Bob Ross was a great inducement for me to sleep, when I was having a bout of insomnia.

The best thing about painting with oils is.. you don't have to be good at drawing.

That's the truth, because I'm the other way around. I'm very good at drawing, but painting is a lot more difficult for me. I usually prefer to use colored pencils (below), or pencil & ink if I'm doing black & white. I ought to learn to paint better one of these days.

You know, Bob Ross could be used as a sleeping aid for insomniacs. Quick, which way to the patent office?

Bush, a warning to you, NEVER link images from Somethingawful.com.
Lowtax has a way of replacing the picture you intend to post with
octagenarian porn, which I doubt the mods would like to see. Just a
note for the future.

Believe me, the octagenarian porn is the BEST of the stuff Lowtax does.
He is quite serious about conserving his bandwidth. ^^;

I thought the Frugal Gourmet was a minister?

I am like you...I can draw but cannot paint. My daughter swears she can teach me to paint (she is an actual art school painting graduate) and I may take her up on it this summer.

My husband bought some of Ross's kits and used to watch him faithfully each week. It was sad when we learned that he was dead.

You are right. Jeff Smith, the Frugal Gourmet, was a Methodist minister. I was thinking he was guilty, but some of those accusing him appear to be shady and/or con men, based on a quick reading about the lawsuit:

Cooking star pays plaintiffs in sexual abuse suits

In the 1970s, these plaintiffs were high school students working for Smith, a Methodist minister and former chaplain at the University of Puget Sound, when he operated a deli and catering service, the Chaplain's Pantry, near downtown Tacoma.
