The French outraged about the horrific violence in Falusia burning men alive beyond recognition, dismembering them and hanging their bodies off a bridge? No, they are upset about Jesus in the Passion of the Christ... How how very "french," how very typical. /disgust

Considering that literally 98% of French "Catholics" never attend Mass, the opinions of the (failed) French Bishops doesn't mean much, does it?

Yep, it's been a show about Arrested Development.

I wonder if the bishops kick up as much a fuss over the burning of Jewish synogues by members of Islam as they are over this movie?

Ahh and what would Muslim French know of Christian faith?

French bishops who are so liberal that only 10 percent of French people are practicing catholic, who forbid their people from going to Medjugorje for fear that the people will start to pray...
I am more and more amazed about the lines in the sand shown by this movie and of the War on terror...
There is a prediction by many that when this pope dies, that such liberal bishops in europe and the US will try to hijack the church to become "modern"...and a new schism will occur...

This is weird. Catholic bishops, denouncing a film which some have criticized as too "catholic", because it might cause anti-semitism
It's from a Paki, Isalmmic paper. That tells me it's a lie.

Guess again.
PARIS (Reuters) - French Roman Catholic bishops have officially denounced Mel Gibson's controversial film The Passion of The Christ, which opened in France on Wednesday, as potentially anti-Semitic and a distortion of Christian teaching. In an unusual statement on a commercial film, the bishops' conference said the traditionalist Catholic Gibson had made a film that might not be anti-Semitic but "could be used to support anti-Semitic opinions."
"In this film, the face of Christ shows through less than the obsessions of our times -- the dread of evil, fascination with violence and the search for the guilty," the information committee of the bishops' conference declared.
