US Promises to Punish Those Responsible for Gruesome Iraq Attacks

The top U.S. official in Iraq says Wednesday's gruesome attacks on four American civilians whose burned bodies were put on display in the town of Fallujah will not go unpunished.

"It's going to be deliberate, it will be precise and it will be overwhelming," U.S. General Mark Kimmitt said, speaking to reporters in Baghdad. He warned insurgents in the town of Fallujah to be prepared for U.S. forces to strike back following Wednesday's killing of four American contractors by a frenzied mob that dragged their charred bodies through the streets.

Televised footage of the act has provoked outrage from Americans in the United States and led U.S. administrator in Baghdad Paul Bremer to issue a warning.

"Their deaths will not go unpunished," he promised.

The White House blamed the attacks on supporters of Saddam Hussein. The remains of the four were to be turned over to the U.S. military.

A day after the attack, three American soldiers were injured in another attack near Fallujah, this time when their Humvee struck a roadside bomb.

This is a *SNIP* of a very long story gathered from intelligence over the past few years........but can be happening as we speak..................


Some Palestinian sources say they were transported there inside container trucks.

The container used at Ashdod had a concealed compartment with a cot and food for the teenage terrorists, who were apparently outfitted with Israeli army uniforms.

Al Qaeda has used lavishly appointed secret containers in the past to smuggle terrorists into and out of ports around the world. The Ashdod container had transited another port before arriving in Israel, raising the possibility that al Qaeda experts had carried out the conversion before it reached the Gaza Strip.

Israel would have reason to be even more alarmed should it transpire that the work was done in the Gaza Strip. It would mean an al Qaeda cell or headquarters has set up a base in the territory and is orchestrating a terrorist offensive through a Palestinian proxy.

Back on November 30, 2001, DEBKA-Net-Weekly , followed later by DEBKA file, were the first media outlets to draw attention to the danger of ship containers being used by terrorist groups, and especially by al Qaeda. In its follow-up story, DEBKA-Net-Weekly 39 reported on October 18, 2001 that a 43-year-old Egyptian stowaway named Rigk Amid Farid had been caught at Italy’s Gioia Touro port aboard the German vessel Ipex Emperor.******* He was comfortably installed in a container converted into a luxurious suite complete with soft bed, small kitchen, cellular telephones and enough food, water and batteries to last him three weeks.

He was armed with Canadian passports and permits that gained security men and mechanics entry to New York’s Kennedy airport, Newark airport and O’Hare airport in Chicago. An investigation showed the container-suite had been loaded on the Ipex Emperor at Egypt’s Port Said and painted over with signs labeling it as the property of the giant Danish Maersk Sealand container company, which it replaced.

With Europe still asleep at the wheel five weeks after the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington, an Italian court ordered the stowaway released on bail. He disappeared without a trace, denying authorities a golden opportunity to discover how al Qaeda’s human cargo container scheme worked.

In DEBKA-Net-Weekly 64, on June 14, 2002, we disclosed that between 75 and125 al Qaeda operatives were known to have illegally penetrated the United States over a period of two months, mostly through American ports as stowaways in commercial sea containers. US port authority sources believed infiltrations occurred at New York, New Jersey, Long Beach, Miami and Savannah, Georgia, as well as Port Everglades, Florida. In Miami and Savanna, containers with clandestine human freight were unloaded from incoming vessels. Anti-terror squads shifted the boxes to a quiet corner of the harbor, drilled holes in their sides and filled them with gas and smoke bombs.

But the paper trail connected to the terrorist smuggling machine mysteriously disappeared along with the reports of insurance companies that issued policies for the containers.

Like its commercial counterparts, “al Qaeda lines” believed in class travel.

Inferior ranks of terrorists, usually Pakistanis, went “cattle class” – in containers with little food and water. Sometimes air holes were covered by other containers and they suffocated to death.

”Operational containers” were provided for terrorists fully armed with combat gear and weapons. Their bunks could qualify as “business class” with good sleeping arrangements, chemical toilets, medicine and lots of ventilation.

And finally, the al Qaeda elite went first class all the way, treating themselves to private compartments with air conditioning, purified water and de luxe food. A crew member-accomplice usually let them out at night for a stroll on the deck.

In some of the stowaway containers, US counter-terror authorities were dismayed to find uniforms of American dockworkers and even US Coast Guards, along with the correct tags and ID for providing holders with free access to port facilities, including off-limits sections.

Scientists Predict Major SoCal Quake With Five Months

LOS ANGELES -- A state earthquake council has given a qualified endorsement to a prediction by a group of scientists who believe that a temblor of magnitude-6.4 or greater will occur in the Southern California desert sometime in the next five months.

The California Earthquake Prediction Evaluation Council, a group of eight scientists selected by the state Office of Emergency Services, said it considers the new prediction by the scientists to be "a legitimate approach in earthquake prediction research."

Despite its support the panel noted in a report that "the physical basis for the prediction has not been substantiated."

The team of scientists at the University of California, Los Angeles, predict that a quake will occur within a 12,000-square-mile area east of Los Angeles by Sept. 5. The zone includes a large swath of the Mojave Desert, the Coachella Valley, the Imperial Valley and eastern San Diego County.

The area was the location of the magnitude-7.3 Landers earthquake in 1992 and the 7.1 Hector Mine quake in 1999.

The zone is so seismically active that the council noted in its report that the chances of an earthquake of at least magnitude-6.4 occurring randomly in the area sometime before the Sept. 5 deadline is about 10 percent.

The council concluded that the results do not warrant any special public policy actions in California. Such actions could include warnings to the public or alerts issued to utilities to help them prevent disruptions in service.

The scientists piqued interest after they forecast the magnitude-6.5 San Simeon quake in December and the magnitude-8.1 quake last year off Japan's Hokkaido island. In both cases, the group set wide parameters in place and time.

The team bases its predictions on long chains of small earthquakes recorded in the area.

"In the vicinity of each such chain, we look backward and see its history over the preceding years -- whether our candidate (for an earthquake) was preceded by certain seismicity patterns," said lead team scientist Vladimir Keilis-Borok. "If yes, we accept the candidate as a short-term precursor and start a nine-month alarm."

Another general on Fox indicated we need to be very forceful in Falluja, set curfews and actually punish the perpetrators (he said there has not been one Iraqi actually punished for any of the deaths or wrongdoing to date). We are treating this area with kid gloves when we need to be forceful and set examples that set fear in their hearts. My husband and I thought this man made complete sense and wished President Bush was listening and absorbing the message.

I was about to publish a new article to the website when I noticed about the attack in Faloja. So I stopped and couldn’t do any thing till this morning, honestly because I was so shamed and didn’t know what to say, I even didn’t want to open my website today so I wont read any comments about it, I was afraid that people would think that all Iraqis are savages. But let me tell you this, the people who stood there even to watch what’s going on are not human. It’s really difficult to describe what I felt, but I will try. I felt anger, disgust, terror, depressed, pain in stomach, and even guilt, I am sure I wasn’t thinking clear so I waited a while before I left back home.

But Now I know that I want to tell the world that me and the Iraqi people I know and those whom I saw since yesterday all shamed of what happened and refuse it and want to do something to stop things like that. Of course we need the help of the coalition to do so but we will do our best.

I used to think that when the coalition forces ends their duties in Iraq, then the Iraqis are ready to take over, but now I am sure that we will need the coalition forces with us for a long time, because I am sure if I or any other Iraqi was in that car, then we would face the same ……..end……. Those who did what happened in Faloja yesterday will not spare any life Iraqi or American, man or woman, a grownup or a child. I wish the IPs with help of coalition forces and the photos of what happened which shows the faces of many people involved would take fast steps to arrest all the people involved to face justice.

At the end, I would like to ask God to bless the souls of the victims, and to say that this accident makes us believe that good and evil is every where and we cant blame any person for being a Christian or Muslim, Suni or Sheeaa, Arabic or Kurdish, Catholic or Anglican because in each and every party of those we can find someone like Ghandi and someone like Bin Ladin.

Ottawa Terrorist Suspect to Appear In Court

The first man charged under Canada's Anti-Terrorism Act will appear in court via video link on Friday in Ottawa.

Twenty-four-year-old Mohammad Momin Khawaja was arrested Monday and charged with terrorist offences in connection with alleged activities in Ottawa and London.

He’s a software developer who worked for Foreign Affairs.

Khawaja’s 62-year-old father is being detained in Saudi Arabia, but it's not clear if his detention is related to his son's arrest.

Meanwhile, there are claims Mohammad Momin Khawaja is being subjected to a type of ``mental torture'' in Canadian custody.

Qasim Khawaja says he was unable to visit his brother on Thursday at an Ottawa detention centre.

Qasim says authorities are acting as though Canada is a ``police state.''

Muslim group decries acts of terrorism

LUTON, England (AP) - In one of the strongest steps by European Islamic groups to support the war on terrorism, Britain's largest Muslim organization has written to 1,000 mosques, urging them to help police and to preach sermons on nonviolence today.

The Muslim Council of Britain said, "Islam categorically forbids violence and killing of innocents." On the other hand, its letter complained of "Islamophobic propaganda" in news media, saying it has damaged Muslim relations with the larger community.

That may be one reason other Muslim groups in Western Europe have not denounced terrorism as aggressively.

In Spain, Islamic leaders have condemned the March 11 bombings in Madrid - but also complained about bias against Muslims.

In Italy, Rome's mosque, the largest in Europe, suspended an imam after he gave a sermon calling for the destruction of Islam's enemies.

In France, Muslim leaders have taken no public stance.

Germany's Central Council of Muslims says it has made more than 30 public statements denouncing terrorism and has asked imams to do likewise in their mosques.

New York, Apr 1 : Bin Laden is not the best surname to have these days, especially if you are Osama's niece.

And Waffa bin Laden seems to be in big trouble, as American terrorist watchdogs think she may have known about her uncle's September 11 attack on New York weeks before it happened, according to a report in rate the music.com.

The wannabe star reportedly told her friends to move out of New York weeks before the tragedy and then left the country herself.

Waffa had a clear view of the Twin Towers, which were destroyed when two hijacked planes were flown into them, from her 6,000 dollars per month loft home in the city.

And April Gallop, who co-runs 9/11 Citizens Watch - a group set up to monitor the questioning of terrorists - believes Waffa was one of thousands of Saudi Arabians living in America, who were tipped off about the terrorist plans.

"Following 9/11, when all aircraft travel had been grounded, there were Saudi families that were quickly flown out of the country", she said.

But Waffa was among many Saudis who left America before the attacks.

American terrorist expert Larry Johnson insists investigations should be made. "It is likely that some Saudis may have known about the attacks beforehand and fled." (ANI)
