[history]
A year ago, I thought Richard A. Clarke, President Clinton's counterterror czar, was a hero. He and his small band of officials fought a long battle to focus the bureaucracy on stopping Osama bin Laden long before 9/11. For my own book, I interviewed Mr. Clarke extensively and found him to be blunt and forthright. He remembered whole conversations from inside the Situation Room.

Newsflash: Condi to testify NEXT Thursday!! I like the timing. The Sunday talk shows will be a bust because it's Easter. (Except of course for us ;^)

Why don't you send an email to Miniter and see if he knows anything he can tell you. Good idea. Here is my e-mail to Miniter:
We got to talking today on Free Republic about Salman Pak and there seems to be a good bit of curiosity about why the existance of an Iraqi terrorist training facility has not been highlighted by the Bush Admininstration. The existance of a Boeing 707 at Salman Pak seems to be an established fact as is the view that it was used for terrorist training.
What is missing, I believe, is the connection between Salman Pak and any known terrorst. As far as I know there has never been a single terrorist identified as having been trained at Salman Pak. This seems odd. It also seems odd that the CIA hasn't questioned the people who worked at Salman Pak, showed them the thousands of pictures that they have of known terrorists and made some connections. If they have done this and made the connection with any planned or real terrorist attack on the United States that would be a dynamite discovery.
Since we have head nothing of this one has to assume that either the whole Salman Pak story is nonsense or the Government has chosen to keep what they know under wraps. I'm hoping you have some insight into all of this that you could share with those curious Freepers.

Does anyone know how to share it with the NY board?

I wouldn't doubt that Hillary bought him... Knowing how cheap she is, I wouldn't be surprised if she had George Soros contribute a few $ million... I'm sure he would see this as a faster path to defeating Bush than even running lying advertisements through MoveOn.SLIME.

I just cannot believe that Matthews is going on like Clarke's word is gospel. The only time he has ever said anything remotely negative against him, it was about his apology. He must throw most of the documented facts against Clarke, in the wastebasket.!
To: neverdem
Clinton probably has Clarke's FBI files and THAT'S why he's flipped.

The hijackers may well have trained at Salman Pak, but they probably used aliases.

Are they trying to tone down their only conservative?
%%%%%
He is not the same Joe who used to appear when he was a Congressman. I think he wants to be 'liked' too much; he is toning himself down. I rarely watch him any more.
Now Dennis Miller is a serious and entertaining conservative.

There is no need to repost if it stays bumped in "Latest Posts" and you see there has been some more activity. Best to keep this one going, IMO.

They are making Scarborough have two lefties to every right guest and the people on the right are all light weights and Scarborough just sits there and doesn't say a word. He even agreed with Madelaine Albright the other night.

The hijackers may well have trained at Salman Pak, but they probably used aliases. Possibly. But that is something that Intelligence Agencies are supposed to be able to sort out and I have to assume that the CIA would have done so by now. The fact that we have heard nothing is bothersome. There is no good reason to hide the fact that terrorists were trained at Salman Pak but that is in effect what the Bush Administration is doing. Maybe there is no there there as they say.

THIS CONTINUES TO SHOW HOW ARROGANT AND INEPT CLARKE WAS AND CONTINUES TO BE, AND WHY HIS POSITION CHANGED UNDER THE BUSH ADMIN because he was an alarmest and unreliable.
