[history]
WASHINGTON -- The Senate on Tuesday voted an additional $6 billion for child care for welfare recipients and the working poor as part of a bill to renew the landmark 1996 welfare reform law.
The measure easily won Senate passage, 78-20. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and 30 other Republicans voted for it, but the Bush administration opposes the provision and House Republicans did not include it in the version of the legislation that passed the House last year.

And it should not be in this one either. If you are a poor woman, keep your legs CLOSED that way, I'm not paying for your spawn.

And, exactly what enumeration in Article I, Section 8 gives Congress the authority to spend money in this manner?

Actually, if the fathers would help support their kids, we wouldn't need all this welfare. Blaming only women for the problem is shortsighted. Both parents need to be taking care of the kids they create.

Of course. But women who seek welfare for children, either out of wedlock or otherwise, should be required to name the father and give his last known location. The state should collect all support from thos e dead-beats or put them in jail. If the woman cant name the daddy - sorry no money.

None of it. I'm not for any of it. I resent all of the give-aways they are doing with my money already!

Women are the controlling and civilizing factor. So it has been since there have been two sexes.
They have the ultimate "no" and should exercise it more judiciously.

BS. Your attitude is why so many men think they can get away with not supporting the kids they help create.
Two people are responsible for bringing a child into the world.

They CAN get away with not supporting their kids, and there are no consequences for either person.
The government steps in to "support" the child, at the rest of our expense.
Do you think the women who have irresponsible sex might be a little more responsible about who they sleep with if the government wasn't going to take the place of a real "daddy?"

This means that for those fathers paying child support already it will be increasing more, and more !

There are over 400,000 + fathers in jail alreadly for back
child support arrears. According to U.S. Census Records and CDC, and other data/studies done, fathers are killing themselfs in great numbers, I wonder why ???

I have no idea. Millions of people seem to be able to support their kids without killing themselves or landing in jail.

I'd like to see both parents held responsible for the support and care of the kids THEY created. Obviously, you want the father to be let off the hook. Too bad, because that just means more taxes for you to support their kids.

I DO NOT want the father off the hook. Try reading WITHOUT the feminazi goggles on.
I want the women to be more choosy about who they decide to mate with.
This would solve more problems than just the illegitimacy issue.

You're the one with the googles on. Personal responsibility doesn't mean just women.

Huh?
I'm talking about people who DON'T support their kids and their kids end up on welfare. Does that sound like your situation?
