I was there when President Bush visited the "Pile" - soon to be the "Pit" - and just as we lifted the nation's spirit with our courage and sacrifice he lifted ours.

I spent five months at the WTC - more time than Kerry spent in Vietnam - and for every miserable moment there I was comforted by his visit.

If Kerry were president we would have spent a year wringing our hands and searching our souls trying to figure out what we did wrong to those who want to destroy us and then we would have crawled on our bellies seeking forgiveness.

I search google every day so that I can write thank you notes to sites that have linked to us.

I've just read this whole thread, and I gotta tell ya, I've got that ol' "eye sweat" thing going on, big time at seeing the support that you've shown here.

www.firefightersforbush.com was indeed a grassroots effort - started by two volunteers, Jay and Dave, on a shoestring but with lots of heart and the certainty that such a site would catch on - and the helping hands sprang up instantly, all over the country.

I wrote a guest article for them as soon as I became aware of their existence, and have become more and more involved with this effort, every day - it's one of the best efforts I could ever support, at this time.

The messages posted to the bulletin board are genuine messages sent to us. They are touching and kind and supportive.

We get very few that are critical of Bush or supportive of Kerry, and now, when we do, we will post them on the bulletin board, where they can be rebutted by people who have the facts to counter the IAFF-Kerry propaganda.

The DU folks have already taken an interest in us: DU so I'm happy to have FReepers watching us, too!

I can't imagine anything more important for me to do right now than helping to get our President re-elected.

I was just lucky enough to find a good place to put my time to use.

Jay and Dave are the real driving forces - and so many other people have stepped up to the plate - "I can do this," and "What can I do?" and "I can do that." It's amazing!

It's taking on a life of its own! ;)
