- Rather One-sided. On yesterday's March 29 CBS Evening News, Dan Rather reported that the "new federal law banning a certain type of late-term abortion was challenged today in three federal courts around the country." He did not specify exactly what type of abortion was banned, but he did specify what opponents of the ban believed.
"Opponents say the law makes no exception to protect the mother's health, and violates the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that made it legal for a woman to choose to have an abortion."
What do supporters of the ban have to say? You'd never hear it from Dan.
- Dan vs. Donald. The New York Post reported on March 24 that Donald Trump, who once endured "a nasty 60 Minutes story on him," fired back at Rather in his latest book:
"Dan Rather is an enigma to me. He's got absolutely no talent or charisma or personality, yet year after year, CBS apologizes for his terrible ratings."
- Rather Features AWOL Soldier from Iraq. In Dan Rather's 60 Minutes II segment tomorrow, the anchor will be anything but nasty to his subject, an AWOL American soldier who left his fellow troops in Iraq.
On the CBS News Web site, they have a preview of what Staff Sgt. Camilo Mejia will say on Wednesday:
"It was during that leave that Mejia tells Rather he first began thinking of going AWOL. 'When you look at the war and you look at the reasons that took us to war and you don't find that any of the things that we were told that we're going to war for turned out to be true,' says Mejia.
"'When you don't find there are weapons of mass destruction and when you don't find that there was a link between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda and you see that you're not helping the people and the people don't want you there and, to me, there's no military contract and no military duty that's going to justify being a part of that war.'"
Mejia continues that he has "only been loyal to my principles and I think that gives me the right to decide not to be a part of something that I consider criminal."
Rather's piece will air on 60 Minutes II Wednesday, March 31 at 8 p.m. ET.

Dan Rather is an idiot, which most people seem to realize. But then, people listen to the absolute nothing Brokaw and Jennings have to offer, as if they are brilliant commentators.

Oh great! Let's just make this deserter slime into a media darling. Dan Rather'"See how unjust this war is! We have this ONE wannabe solider who disgraced his country and violated his oath, to prove a point. The point is this America...that he failed fo follow through on the commitment he made to the other men and women who bravely put on the uniform and FOLLOWED ORDERS to defend this country!"
Let that report would ever happen! Wait...am I seeing things??? Are those ice crystals forming on the walls of Hell? Nope, my bad...just condensation. Nevermind.

I suppose on some level he has the right to not be a part of something he considers illegal. He'll have plenty of time to plan his next move while he sitting in the stockade for the next 5 to 10 years. Maybe when he is done he can chuck his ribbons over the White House fence. Oh wait, that's already been done. Nevermind.

Sniveling, pansy, coward, freak, deserter. . .and that's just Rather.
And Gunda Dan thinks that guy is a wonderful subject for an interview?
As far as the Green-card AWOL coward is concerned, ship him back to his third-world cesspool. . .in pieces.

Soldier's at Mejias level don't have a freakin' clue as to what is going on and where. Intelligence folks do their job in secrecy. Just because one is in the military does not grant them the right or privilege to access classified information.
It's called "Need to know" and this scumbag deserter doesn't have a need!
Just a need for my size 9.5 up his A**!
Rather is complicit in portraying this traitor as a "conscientous objector".
Rant off!

"Opponents say the law makes no exception to protect the mother's health, and violates the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that made it legal for a woman to choose to have an abortion." Sigh. It seems that even its fans have never actually *read* Roe v Wade.
That Supreme Court decision did *not* "make it legal for a woman etc." as some sort of unconditional right. It only overturned laws against abortions in the first trimester, and specifically said that whether later-term abortions would be allowed or banned would still be a matter for legislatures to decide.
So in short, a ban on LATE TERM abortions in NO WAY "violates the U.S. Supreme Court ruling" on abortion.
Idiots.

The good thing about his going AWOL is that wasn't back in Iraq. He could have gotten some real soldiers killed.

The only thing Staff Sgt. Camilo Mejia should be doing is deciding what his last meal should be!
