WASHINGTON: Chicago's Sears Tower and Los Angeles' Library Tower were to be the next targets after the terrorist attacks on World Trade Centre and the Pentagon, Al-Qaeda's puported operations chief Khalid Shiekh Mohammed now in detention, has told US interrogators, media reports said on Tuesday.
The plan for Chicago and Los Angeles were aborted because of the decisive US response to the New York and Washington attacks, Sheikh reportedly told the investigators, the Washington Times said quoting a British newspaper.
The US response disrupted the terrorist organisations' plans so thoroughly that it could not proceed, he said.

"Was" is not the correct word here. Sears tower will always be a target for them.

I heard Rush mention this. He said it was in today's Washington Times. I haven't had a chance to look.
Thank goodness our actions averted this horrible plan.

Remember the story on the 11th or 12th, box cutters found on a downed plane? Probably part of this plot. I think the
plane was grounded in St. Louis, or KC.

"The US response disrupted the terrorist organisations' plans so thoroughly that it could not proceed, he said."I would hope that in the course of this 9/11 "commission" that someone would read this statement--in a very loud voice. I would hope that President Bush includes it in some of his campaign ads. Anyone who thinks President Bush "did nothing" needs to know this.

If Gore had succeeded in stealing the election, the Sears Tower and LA Library Tower would no longer exist.

I was working that day, in a squad car, about one half mile north of the Sears Tower. I'm sure I would have been there. Watched the planes hit New York during eight o'clock roll call, then went out to patrol and watched all the people walking away from the Loop, all the buildings closed.
Fake anthrax time was annoying, glad thats pretty much past, lasted about two or three months after...

The threat of terrorism is greatly exaggerated.

AQ leadership may be inspired at times but isn't that bright. If they wanted to go after Sears Tower and a target in LA, the day to have done that was 9-11-01.
They can really only use that suicide plane trick once...
