CBS News keeps changing its policy on reporting results of its own polls. Or so it seems.
A CBS News/New York Times poll found John Kerry leading George Bush by a margin of 48 to 43 per cent. The CBS Evening News reported this on February 16th.
Weeks later a CBS News/New York Times poll revealed Kerry leading Bush by one point: 47 to 46 per cent. CBS Evening News reported these poll results on February 28th.
Then a third CBS News/New York Times poll showed a change in position. Bush was leading Kerry by a margin of 46 to 43 per cent. But this story never appeared on the CBS Evening News.
Likewise, CBS Evening News thought it newsworthy that Bushs approval rating fell below 50 percent. It reported this fact on February 28th although it didnt deem it newsworthy when his approval rating rebounded to above 50 percent. This fact never made the newscast.
Guess which candidate CBS Evening News supports for the Presidency?
And thats The Point.

Bet this is the first thread on FR with "hyman blisters" in the title.

Certainly no surprise here.
CBS long ago gave up playing the game, still practiced by ABC and NBC, of pretending to be objective, non-partisan "journalists". CBS is a Democrat Party mouthpiece, period. They don't hide it, and they don't care who notices.
It's no big deal though, since I think they're barely on the radar screen anyways. At least, I don't know anybody who watches Dan Rather (he's still alive, right?) or '60 Minutes' or whatever else they may have going on.
To: Lancey Howard
still practiced by ABC and NBC, I heard that Russert did a great job of shooting Clarke to pieces, Sunday. Is this true?

Russert is actually one of the good guys these days. I mean, he is becoming genuinely more objective probably because he has grown jaded over the years trying not to shake his head in disgust at the barrels and barrels of Barbra Streisand dished out by his guests every Sunday morning.
Remember, Russert is no simpleton "news reader" like Rather, Cronkite, Jennings, and that ilk. And he's not a washed-up, partisan hack like Ed Bradley who tries to get by on sensational, interruption-filled, steamroller jobs where his goal is to fluster and belittle his guest so as to make himself look big.
Russert likely harbors liberal tendencies but he is a genuine journalist and he asks tough, fair questions of everybody. And he always gives his guests a chance to complete their thoughts and make their points. You can hardly ask for more than that.

Dan Rather is a hemorrhoid on the ass of America.

CNN did the same thing.
They conducted a poll, but focused only on the Clarke questions in the poll.
There was no mention of Bush's approval ratings bouncing back to 53% nor that Bush was now leading Kerry by a 51%-47% margin in the poll.

If you can locate the form he speaks of

Did anyone see the USA Today Poll? They had a headline earlier that said something like "Bush's favorability declines"...or something like it...now it says..
Majority supports Bush on terrorism...the story is exactly the same and by the same writer, but they changed the headline...I wrote an email complaining about it and I thought I posted it here but can't find it. I AM AMAZED THAT THEY CHANGED THE HEADLINE!!!!!
