Kerry's Other War Record (John Fund of WSJ targets VVAW Assassin Plot)
Wall Street Journal ^ | March 29th, 2004 | John Fund

Edited on 04/23/2004 12:06:41 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

John Kerry mentions his service in Vietnam so frequently that it has become a running joke on the campaign press plane. He seldom if ever mentions his postwar activities as a national coordinator and principal spokesman for Vietnam Veterans Against the War, a group he says he quit in 1971 because he was concerned about its radical agenda. One reason may be that a credibility gap has started to widen over his antiwar history, and he clearly doesn't want to discuss it at length. His campaign is issuing misleading and evasive statements on his antiwar service in a way that would do the Pentagon spinners of the Johnson and Nixon administrations proud.

Kerry himself, in his infamous Senate testimony, stated he went to Paris and "met with both factions".

I'm sure the government has THAT in his file.

Where are you and why do you rule out Fox?

Not that I'm saying they're the greatest thing since sliced bread as some of their programming is not to my taste, but "Special Report" with Brit Hume is excellent.

several veterans remembered Mr. Kerry being present at the meeting when Scott Camil, a key leader of the VWAW from Florida

I mentioned on the other thread and will repeat here:

CSPAN played a June 1971 Dick Cavet show that featured a debate between John Kerry and John O'Neill.

O'Neill pointed out to Kerry that none of the "soldiers" who "testified" at the Winter Soldier hearing about committing atrocities would sign depositions affirming what they said.

Kerry pointed to the audience and said there was someone who came with him *from Florida* who would step forward and sign a deposition. This was not followed through on and no name was mentioned, but I immediately suspected that it was Scott Camil in the audience.

Fox is according to moyority opinion of the community the only accaptable news channel choice....
That one I know...therefore I rule it out.

How long does a request of this nature take?

FOIA requires response to the intitiator of the request within 20 days. If this info was previously released, there should not be a problem with getting it in-hand within a 30 day time frame.

The Boston Globe photo shows Kerry in his Lowell living room watching Nixon on television, January, 1973.

John Kerry Watching Nixon on Television

John Kerry, a Vietnam vet and head of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, watches as President Nixon announces an agreement on a cease fire in Vietnam. Kerry, who lost to Republican Paul Cronin (D-Mass) in the November general elections said, "my initial reaction is thank God that the prisoners are coming home and that we at least have stopped American participation in the war."

I just sent the WSJ page to our local editorial board asking them to discuss the issue at their next meeting and to write an editorial on the points the author makes in the article.

You might also want to inform them of the picture of Kerry in 1973 that I have posted in #68.

Last eve I saw his debate on Dick Cavet in 1971. This CSpan presentation which ran well over an hour was fascinating. Kerry was/is an arrogant opportunistic poseur.

You get to watch a 24 year old try to determine foreign policy. Back then he was spewing about the Haig and Geneva Conventions. Fairly good news is that the old Kerry is washed out compared to those days he used to rise as a politician.

This was an eye opener. I look forward to seing his --- womped

This is a major article that hits most of the key points in the evolving Kerry / VVAW story. It's also a gauntlet across the chops to all the other media outlets that have been carefully avoiding the topic for several weeks.

With this following on the heels of last week's Boston Globe piece we may see the pace pick up a bit.

Limbaugh, Scarborough, and Laura Ingraham have both discussed the Kerry / VVAW / Phoenix Project story. Sean Hannity was in studio with Laura when she spoke to Tom Lipscomb, though I don't know if he's had it on his show yet.

Eric Hogue running it today.

Another Freeper originally posted this...I just copied and pasted it...can't access the original article without a subscription, so I can't check it to see if that is the original text. I asked in #16 if anyone had a subscription, so we could check it out.

Here is the original thread. It also has the typo.

Kerry is as bad as,if not worse than Hillary.

I think Hillary! has him beat hands down, because he's not very bright, and unfortunately, she is. But Kerry and Slick are a toss up.

The story is unlikely to go away completely.

Heck, the story is just getting its boots on. The WSJ Op Ed page is the most influential in the country. It was carefully written. They know full well that it will be the breakout piece.
