Kerry scoffing at the idea of a bloodbath in Vietnam, but says "political assassinations" are probably inevitable.
No wonder the American Vietnamese turned out here in such numbers against this guy.
To: Eva
just political assassination which Kerry says is okAnother flip-flop! ;-)
Or was it only O.K. for 'the yellow races'?

Check out the Communist Daily World articles from 1971 that published Kerry's photos and VVAW activities. The Communists understood that Kerry supported the VietCong -- Kerry has been anti-American, anti-military, pro-Communist (or any other enemy of America) for 33 years:

Check it out.
Thanks, but just watching made me sick enough.
I've been more than aware of this scumbag for over 30 years.

I was getting so mad I had to turn the TV off. John Kerry was saying that war crimes were going on all the time, that they were being committed as US policy, or at least with the full knowledge and encouragement of the higher ranks of the officer corps. I don't care that this jerk was only 27 years old at the time. How could he have spewed this garbage? What kind of a man steps on the necks of all those soldiers who died and were maimed for their country as he scrabbled his way up political food chain? What kind of a man has the Democrat party nominated???
To: BigSkyFreeper
Kerry is just an opportunist. He has no core principles, just political ambitions.

We better all work and pray hard for President Bush in these next several months. God help us all if Kerry would get elected. Amen BUMP

For starters, he never lost his cool. 1. Kerry knew Cavett was on his side. (Which may be why Kerry did not want to debate O'Neill on other shows).
2. Kerry knew he could lie and get away with it.

The debate is 2 against 1
(Kerry and Cavett) against O'Neill

Kerry is so smug and obnoxious, it was hard to bare.

His worldview is easily adaptable today - pull out of the Middle East because we'll never be able to democratize them. Put in "Iraq" for "Vietnam", and it's not much different. I also love how O'Neil gets hammering Kerry that he's trying to use his military service to get him elected to Congress. Again, not much has changed in 30 years.
This is a real eye-opener. It's amazing how little Lurch's talking points and tactics have changed. Another example: He complained that a residual force of American troops (following Vietnaminazation and to support peace/POW negotiations) would only be targets for insurgents. Same thing we're hearing from Nader/Kuchinich/Dean, and I predict will soon be hearing from the "mainstream" Democrats.
Kerry then expected Americans to believe (or his followers to pretend to believe) that Communists in a South Vietnamese coalition government would place nice if we just picked up and left. Today he expects us to believe that the U.N. could handle Iraq much better; that their "peace keepers" wouldn't be attacked by islamists, and wouldn't run away.
Reality is a persistent problem for 'Rats and leftists.

listening to Kerry here, He makes Clinton sound like a principled statesman......sheesh...
To: FL_engineer
Kerry refused to appear and debate against O'Neill on
other shows that would have been more balanced.
CSPAN is repeating the show again at 9:30 pm EST

Anyone who missed this, it replays at 9:30pm EST.

1. Kerry knew Cavett was on his side. (Which may be why Kerry did not want to debate O'Neill on other shows). Well, at least you agree with me about the favoritism. Cavett was anything but even-handed. As the host, he should have done a better job at controlling the audience.
I don't think any television host today would risk looking supportive of an audience jeering at U.S. servicemen putting their lives on the line.
