Dear lord, I can't take this....but this replay is really putting some things into perspective for me.

The overwhelming bias of the program is striking, looking back from today. Hoots and hollers from the unwashed peacefreaks. I used to laugh at older folks and their knee-jerk liberalism. I always thought it was residue from the sixties and nothing more.

But watching this, I can see plainly that for a generation of Americans, the left point of view was the only point of view fed to them. No wonder the old hippies are such dimwits, it is all they ever knew!

I can't imagine an era where there were 3 networks, 5 or six radio stations, and a local paper, all parroting the left wing agenda. It's amazing conservatives survived at all actually. To the old conservatives who lived through this nonsense, Thanks for sticking to the fight....

Kerry just admitted that he personally requested an early release from service, so he can work against the war!

I tried to get my husband to listen, but he refused.

Divorce him and marry me!

Then you can live in blissful political matrimony! LoL's

Kerry tells audience that 'he was told' that he could leave after his third 'Heart and 'deliberated for two weeks' whether he should.

Kerry says that he was released from duty because of his opposition to the war and has been working against the war ever since.

Kerry is saying it's unrealistic for the (then) administration to strive for a non-communist regime in Vietnam.

How frightening is Kerry's worldview when one today looks at the Middle East?

i read that the FBI files on Kerry's time with VVAW were stolen a few days ago from the journalist who was using them. How convenient!

Cavett said this was the hottest political issue of the day, and that the audience was balanced and highly engaged.

Balanced? Cavett was an absolute disgrace as a moderator, Kerry was an extremely poised young man, and O'Neill appears to have been the token conservative patsy.

Is this John O'Neil still alive? He seems to be a potentially wonderful source for Bush and the Republicans against Kerry.

We should seek out John O'Neill today and get him re-involved.

I agree. He did a wonderful job going toe to toe with Kerry, especially since Cavett was so obviously biased.

O'Neill does not come off as a "patsy".

He basically called Kerry a liar in so many words a few times now (fabrication was one word used).

I wish we could find out who Kerry's friend from Florida in the audience who was willing to step forward and sign a war crimes deposition was. I'll bet it was Camil.

This is fascinating to see in light of the past three decades, with O'Neill saying "in 25 years we'll look back on a Viet Nam free of communism."

The world is free of communism, everywhere but Boston and Chappaqua.

Most interesting general observation...

In 1971 Kerry was simultaneously complaining about the President's over-vigorous prosectution of the war AND that the President was bringing American troops home, with the accusation that he was just trying to withdraw in time for the election.

Final proof that Kerry is still stuck in 1971.

Yes, he did!!!

===

I think this should be publicized.

He was accusing Bush of being AWOL (when he wasn't), making a big deal about a few days towards the very end of Bush's service, now we find out, that Kerry asked for early release from his service, so he can work against his fellow soldiers -- all the while he is running around in his campaign talking about his "war hero" status.

I can't believe that I used to like Dick Cavitt. He's so biased now to my eyes, the way he admonishes O'Neill, and seems to give Kerry a break now and then.

I was young then, and never saw the biases in people like this.
