Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) will have minor outpatient surgery on his right shoulder next week that may keep him off the campaign trail for up to four days.
Spokesman David Wade said the Massachusetts senator aggravated an old injury to a tendon from the sub-scapularis muscle -- which helps move the shoulder -- earlier this year when he braced himself against an abrupt stop on a bus tour in Iowa during the race for the Democratic nomination.
"He will have outpatient surgery on his shoulder on Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital," Wade said. "It's a quick procedure that usually lasts less than an hour."
The injury did not bother Kerry during a recent weeklong skiing and snowboarding vacation in Idaho nor does it prevent him from occasionally tossing a football and baseball with reporters and staff.
Wade said Kerry, 60, was not in pain, except when he made a certain movement such as "picking up a baby on the rope line."
However, he wanted to repair the tear to prevent further injury and "decided it would be better just to get it fixed now," Wade added.
Kerry was expected to wear a sling for a few days and spend time working at home in Boston before returning to the campaign trail.

No, not from pats on his back; he needs surgery to correct the impact of the chip he has carried on his shoulder for so many years.

Speaking of botox...does anyone have some side-by-side, before and after pics of Kerry. It will be interesting to see what he looks like in a few days.

Drudge and suggest it. He did this the first time and that's when the "Kerry Does Botox" furor started (and hasn't stopped.....).

Well, it's pretty obviously a cover story. Botox is possible, I guess, but I think it's more likely cancer checkup.
Note also that the story mentions he will be wearing a sling. I don't see a day mentioned, though surely that must be decided.

The injury did not bother Kerry during a recent weeklong skiing and snowboarding vacation in Idaho nor does it prevent him from occasionally tossing a football and baseball with reporters and staff. FWIW, the subscapularis is the prime mover for internal rotation of the shoulder (ie. throwing motion). Therefore, if the problem is with the subscapularis he would NOT be able to throw anything. More BS being slung around by his handlers.

Wade said Kerry, 60, was not in pain, except when he made a certain movement such as "picking up a baby on the rope line." Old farts have on snowboards are pathetic. It was the six falls PravdABDNC reported on going down the one hill rehurt the wuss. If he doesn't fall why does he wear thick gloves in 65 degree weather?? If a Rat gives you a reason it wasn't, it means it is the reason. Photop gone bad?? Why wouldn't he get his surgery before his vacation???

Therefore, if the problem is with the subscapularis he would NOT be able to throw anything. Phew! I guess we should be thankful that no ashtrays would get thrown in the White House should he (shudder) get elected, unless it's Teresa doing the throwing (wink) ......
Is There a Batterer in the US Senate?
According to Christopher Andersen, author of Bill and Hillary, Hillary also assaulted Bill on August 13, 1999, after the Monica Lewinsky revelations. Andersen writes:
"...the President...weeping, begged her forgiveness. Much of what transpired next between Bill and Hillary Clinton was plainly audible to Secret Service agents and household staff members down the hall. In the past, Hillary had thrown books and an ashtray at the President -- both hitting their mark...Hillary rose to her feet and slapped him across the face -- hard enough to leave a red mark that would be clearly visible to Secret Service agents when he left the room.
"'You stupid, stupid, stupid bastard,' Hillary shouted. Her words, delivered at the shrill, earsplitting level that had become familiar to White House personnel over the years, ricocheted down the corridor."
Sheehy's account of the incident is similar, adding that Hillary's friend Linda Bloodworth-Thomasen, who was staying with her husband in the private quarters nearby, "thought it was great that Hillary 'smacked him upside the head.'"
The US Department of Justice's Office for Victims of Crime classifies these types of attacks--scratching, slapping, hitting, throwing objects, and inflicting bruises or lacerations--as "physical abuse" and domestic violence.

Well, something strange is going on, surely. Kerry's campaign staff said that Kerry made off the wall statements when he was tired. And thus, he needed a vacation. I said at the time that if he could not stand the regime of a campaign, then how could he stand the rigors of actually being a POTUS. This man is either out of shape or physically ill.
