lets look at this logicaly.. Washington(DC) enforces do not call list. not only are 2 + MILLION jobs lost because of that but here is the fun part..Beleive it or not,All of the people who signed up on the list regardless of what they tell you buy stuff on the phone.. dont take that wrong some people dont but MORE than you can IMAGINE do..So heres the trickle effect... once there is no data to call obviously sales go down WAY DOWN probalbly about 30% if i had to guess. so that not only caused 2million telemarketers to loose there jobs nationwide(of which MCI has a portion of) but it goes down the line .. such as this ..where we are laying off now.. And then the fun part of that is HEY there is still a VERY large customer database someone has to answer the phone for them when they call .. Someone has to make sure that the internet backbone stays running.. etc etc.. So now what we are a few employees short and its much to costly to to pay the americans that we provide the service for.. OH Wait! i know ! let take a few thouand jobs and go to South America or India, the conversion rate for Canada is in our favor too (no offense to my canadian co-workers we love you )... thats cheap labor.. So then comes outsourcing to stay profitable,, And then at night when we are sitting in our livinrooms watching news on T.V. *(without the phone ringing ) we see that OH unemployment is up and OH all of our jobs are going oversees, and OH there are no good jobs here anymore, OH wow there gonna let immigrants come take the leftover jobs bc they work cheaper.. and then to complain? Ha how hypocritical is that?

Well I'll save your text since one of the goverment lovers will get it deleted along with your account. It isn't entirely coherent but I do agree with the notion that government interference in the market is bound to have unintended (usually negative) consequences. Phone service with or without unwanted calls is not an entitlement to be guaranteed by the government.

You go on about the "BIG PICTURE". People wish to be left alone when they come home from a hard days work. They want to enjoy uninterrupted time with their families. Sure, it's easy to say 'just hang up' when we get these calls, but when grandma is having a hard time breathing and you have to get her the oxygen quickly and the phone rings, or when you are in a rush and trying to get dinner ready because your child's concert is in an hour, or you are just plain tired and just got comfortable with a good book, the last thing you want or need is a phone call. I don't care how you carry on - it's called HARRASSAMENT. Getting my name on the DO NOT CALL list is one of the best things I ever did.

Get another job. Get a job where people come to YOU. Not a job where you have to hassle people via phone.

And please - learn how to spell - or type. It might make you sound a bit more mature and credible.

I dropped them a few years ago and it took a letter from a lawyer friend of mine to get them to stop sending me the minimum bill every month.

MCI started charging 55 cents per minute for long distance without informing me. I got my bill one month to discover a $75 phone call. At least they removed the charges without too much hassle.

The only large corporations I truly hate are MCI and United Airlines (never fly United unless you enjoy being stranded overnight in strange cities without your luggage and without any compensation for food or a hotel). Now they're both in bankruptcy. Ha!

Phone service with or without unwanted calls is not an entitlement to be guaranteed by the government.

The government is simply affirming my right to be unmolested in my own house and provides me with remedies to punish those who do not wish to respect my privacy.

Nobody is going to go to jail for calling someone on the "leave me the hell alone list" but I can file to be compensated for my time and trouble.
