I heard FOX News report that Paula Zahn had done a news report about how 50+% of exercisers do so while watching TV. Apparently, according to FOX, unbeknownst to Paula, this story originated in "The Onion". Has anyone seen a news story about this?

I haven't seen it, but I can tell you that running while holding my tv in front of me is really hard on the back.

Gee, you would almost think that FNC has some kind of beef with Paula Zipper.

The Onion story was about 50% of all exercise being on tv.

We do not care about The Onion. They are a bunch of humorless snobs who are hoping to write for DEBKA or even Pravda if they get a break.

The Onion story was about people doing their exercise watching TV.
However, I would bet that -- for those that do their exercise in health clubs and at home, the percentage is probably 95%.
That only leaves the question of what percentage only jog and walk -- or play cardio games like basketball -- outside.

"The Onion story was about people doing their exercise watching TV."
Correction, should be "The Onion story was about people whose exercise IS watching TV."

Poor Paula.
No one listens to her when she talks about politics.
No one listens to her when she talks about entertainment.
No one listens to her when she talks about social issues.
No one listens to her when she talks about financial news.
No one listens to her...

Believe it or not, about the only time I
do watch TV is while I am excercising! I have a TV in front of my treadmill at home.
If I'm not on the treadmill (and I'm only on it for about a half hour each day), I have better things to do than watch TV.

This will sound odd, but when I exercise is one of the scarce times when I am completely AWAY from tv's. I guess I just do everything backwards. ;)

The reporter was not Paul Zhan of CNN, it was Debora Norville of MSNBC. I heard it.

Your post reminds me of a story I heard about a guy that had a slight hearing problem, but suddenly he couldn't hear any thing at all, so he went to the doctor. The doctor looked in his ear and pulled out a suppository and said, "What the heck...?" The guy looked at it and said, "Now I know where my hearing aid is."
