Hope someone is evacuating the treasures in the Museum of the Confederacy and monitoring the safety of other landmarks. If the fire burns through 1.2 miles of center city Richmond, we'll have bigger problems than those treasures/landmarks...

Then what's the campus there by the museum, MCV? Yep. VCU has two separate campuses. MCV is located on East Broad while the VCU Academic Campus is on West Broad. The fire is on the north end of the Academic Campus.

What else of note is along I-95? Is Washington, DC "of note"?

That's what they continue to report, although six blocks may make more sense.
Have you seen the aerial shots? Looks like building after building is on fire/smoking, with smoke literally spreading over miles. Very surreal.
Did you read the other threads on tanker explosions along I-95 today?

"Expecting it to be a gas main hit or something..." Considering the size of some of the flames I saw in pictures, it wouldn't surprise me. Still, I'd think the news wouldda picked up on that if it were true. I think it's probably just a half-finished renovation with a lot of fuel (aka wood) fer burning.

Thanks for the clarification. Horrible situation, nonetheless. Definitely. My wife's office is just a couple blocks from there, but I haven't been able to contact her and see what's going on.

I got my desk very organized and got some filing & phone calls done. :)

I heard it may have been stuff in the Art School - lots of flammable chemicals there. What a shame - that's a fairly new building.

Anything else of import along this Interstate? You mean like Washington, DC? Baltimore? New York? Boston?
