President Bush attended the Congressional Medal of Honor ceremony for Women's rights champion and civil rights leader Dr. Dorothy Height, who is 92 years old today. She served more than 30 years as the president of the National Council of Negro Women, an organization dedicating to uplifting black women and their communities.
President Bush spoke at the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington.
He accepted Jacques Chirac's invitation to go to Paris on June 5.

"Dr. Dorothy Height makes remarks next to the statue of Abraham Lincoln during a Congressional Gold Medal ceremony honoring her in the Capitol Rotunda inside the U.S. Capitol. Joining her from L-R are: U.S. President George W. Bush, Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn) and Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD). Height received the medal for her work over the last-half century offering leadership in the liberation struggle of black women."
I don't know Dr. Height's politics, but ... I guess it's not beyond the pale that even a Congressional Medal of Honor awardee has to go through the paces to get the prize
Afternoon, all.

"Georgia Sen. Zell Miller, a Democrat who has endorsed President Bush, took the reins on March 24, 2003 of a 'Democrats for Bush' group and slammed John Kerry as 'out of step' with the party's past leaders. Miller lumped the Vietnam War veteran with Democratic Party leaders 'who really represent nothing but special interest groups and their own partisan agendas.' Miller and Bush are shown at an event Feb. 20, 2003."
I think the caption is a pick-up on Yahoo after they posted the photos recently.
