T-shirt Controversy Surrounds Caldwell Co. School
POSTED: 2:13 pm EST March 23, 2004 UPDATED: 5:56 pm EST March 23, 2004
HUDSON, N.C. -- Racial tensions at South Caldwell High School have prompted a crackdown on T-shirts with the Confederate battle flag on them.
Fifteen students were sent home from the school Monday for violating the dress code.
Principal Byron Jones says the students ignored a letter sent home last week announcing the crackdown, which began Monday.
Jones says the school superintendent and school attorney told him to enforce the rule strictly.
The T-shirt worn by 17-year-old South Caldwell student Chris Anthony bears a Confederate battle flag with the slogan, "Dixie will never burn again" across the back. Anthony says he doesn't consider the flag racist.
Jones says South Caldwell High School is 99 percent white, with eight black students and four to six Hispanic students.

I don't like the premise that all it takes is for one person to claim "this" stands for "that" and it's taken as gospel truth. Then all must conform with this new understanding and if you dare suggest that the allegation is incorrect, or might have a different meaning for different people, you're an insensitive racist.

For heaven's sake ... if there's really a problem with harassment of the handful of black and hispanic students, then DO something about it. (If not, this P.C. nonsense will start some.) All this hoo-hah over people's clothes is just a coverup of the fact that there's no real discipline in the schools.

This generation of kids is not buying their parents useless liberalism and the hateful double standards that are as obvious as the ugly on Janet Reno's face. If it were a few white kids in a "minority" school they would probably be lucky to survive without paying the racial dhimini.

Reminds me of a poster a soldier had in the military.
It was a cartoon of a Confederate soldier with a battle flag. Towering over him was a Union soldier beating the reb on the head with the staff of the Union flag.
The Officers didn't like it and he was ordered to take it down.

I heard some disturbing news on Bill O'reilly last night that had me up all night with agita. They say that by mid-century whites will become the minority in this country. If the 'tyranny of the minority' is this bad today can you imagine what they will do when they are the majority? The only solace I have is knowing I'll be dead by then. Are you ready for lawlessness in a sci-fi type of nomadic world? God I hope Armageddon arrives soon.

If the Confederate flag causes racial tensions, then it stands to reason the American flag causes the same racial tensions. Of course I am arguing in absurdum because I don't buy the racial tensions thing. So don't you Yankees flame me, okay ? Especially you, Walt

lol...you know most people only wear them to piss off the easily offended, like you. If all the cry babies of the world would grow thicker skins, confederate flags wouldn't be nearly so appealing.

Any loyal American should be offended by the CSA battle emblem. Be offended all you want there scooter but we will always fly and wear our Confederate flag here in Dixie.
To: chance33_98
Are they going to ban the black, red, and green, black militant flag? Some find that offensive.
To: Puppage
To they send kids home that wear FUBU labeled clothing, too?Ban the do-rag!

What that idiot scum Walt ignores, is that the highest percentage of our current troops are from the South.
