Why doesn't the Conservative party run on a platform to pardon everyone convicted of using deadly or disproportionate force in self-defense?

Because the tories are wussies. All they want is to get back into power. They think abandoning Margaret Thatcher and attacking Blair over Iraq is going to win them votes. They aren't interested in principles like "individual rights" or "self-defense." It's very sad.

I used to work with an Englishman from Yorkshire who, upon completing an apprenticeship, received his papers as a Freeman. In that document it stated that, as a freeman, he had the right to "march upon the village commons with bayonet affixed".

As antiquated as it sounds, that paper still truly defines the difference between a freeman and all others.

Perhaps it is time for men in the land of my forebearers to once again "march upon the Commons with bayonets affixed".

Just about all my ancestors came from Scotland. Sort of makes me not as proud as I once was.

Some time ago, I saw a Scotsman interviewed on a local tv show. He was the manager of a golf course in the same city. This man was really angry at what had become of Scotland. He blamed labor unions although I am sure there is more to it than that.

I do wonder if the fact the man was a drug dealer might have had some impact on the sentence.
