The Republican National Convention is planned for New York city, Thursday September 2. I know Protest Warrior is planning on staging a counter-protest of the lefties that are planning a huge protest of the event. Are the Freepers planning on joining us? This should be a HUGE counter-protest if you plan this far in advance. We could probably get thousands of Protest Warriors and Freepers from all over the country to make it up there. Post your ideas and comments. Keep this thread bumped until September.

I'm really looking forward to this and hope to get into the convention as a volunteer (I don't know Marty Golden well enough to become a delegate).Me too! I'm using every possible connection to get in as a volunteer -- including the RNC guy I met at CPAC!

Keep the path clear to Barney's and no one will get hurt. Will do -- but I prefer Bendel (quintessential New York shopping), as well as some of the lesser known little stores downtown.

There are not nearly 200 members in the NYC Chapter of Protest Warrior yet, but there may be by the time of the convention. Of course there are other nearby chapters too!
And we do have a Tri-State Chapter of Free Republic--New York, New Jersey, Connecticut.
As far as places to rally, we need to work with the NYPD on that, and also find out what the commie plans are.

We don't need to get arrested to get our message across. We have been protesting for a long time in NYC and we know the drill.
To: hockeyfreak
I'm going to TRY and make it as an alternate.
To: firebrand
I wasn't implying that FReepers would be of a behavior that would get them intentionally arrested. Sometimes all it takes is to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. That is all.
Respectfully

Should be a good time to go to NYC. The normal summertime crowds will be thinning and the weather starting to cool off a little. If I can swing it then, I will strongly consider going.

I assure you no leftist will keep me from Barney's (I love Bendel's too...but Barney's..)
I mean I see no problem kicking leftist butt and saluting the capitalist tradition at the same time, right?

Count me in firebrand! We did a counter protest at the Dem convention last time it was in NYC, with the pro-lifers, we did pretty well too. My brother was interviewed on MTV and they were kind enough to messenger him a copy of it when he called after a friend saw him on TV. I still have it!
We had a ton of fun, watching celebrities, etc. I remember seeing Curtis Sliwa, he's a true celebrity, famous for being famous.
We need major turn-out. We should definately team up with Protest Warrior, Right to Life, anyone and everyone who supports our Dubya and esp. the War on the Terrorists Who Want to Kill Us. (Do you think John F'in Kerry gets it, they want to kill him too? Nah, he probably thinks that "they know who he is" and wouldn't dare!) We should contact any and all conservative/Young Republican, etc. college orgs in the tri-state area. Isn't NYYR a pretty active group?

I'd join you if the convention was anywhere else, but the stench of urine emanating from that city generally keeps me away unless absolutely necessary to enter it.
To: Coleus
In addition to the protest outside, why can't the FR sponsor a booth in the convention hall with the other groups and vendors? Probably because the RNC as of late generally doesn't like conservatives doing that kind of stuff. Convention booths are great at state conventions but at the national ones they're just like everything else that goes on during the convention: staged.
They used to have lots of booths and vendors and button traders many many years ago. In Philadelphia 4 years ago the booths were all in a separate downtown convention center several miles away from the convention site. They were also horrendously overpriced and bought up mostly by donor corporations that sponsored the convention. That, and the RNC's recent tendency to pick smelly urban northeastern democrat crapholes for its conventions as of late, are the two main reasons why I probably won't attend this year.

Yeah, if conservatives ever hope wrestle the GOP away from the opportunistically socialist, profiteering trash that has commandeered it, we have to clean house of the willing dupes at the state level.

This is one of those necessary times where your presence will be needed. We need to show those marxists liberals that we've had enough of their dictates.
If ever there was a time to demonstrate that we can oppose them using reason and good behavior as our weapons then this is it. Failing that, the next stage is the minutemen. And I mean that in every sense that it applies.
These marxist liberals have alinged themselves with the islamic fascists.
Their vehicle for funding is A.N.S.W.E.R.
They mean business.
And besides this stink of urine and the smell of their verbal excrement you are needed.
So God Bless America. We're looking for a few good men.

Thanks for the suggestion of the pro-lifers. We should get the pro-2nd-Amendment folks to join us too. We've got a lot of organizing to get done and will need leaders to be in charge of contacting these various groups.
I worry about hotel space. It's not only the convention but the U.S. Open too. Can you say Secaucus?
To: jocon307; firebrand
Definitely! We need all the help we can get, from all the groups we can get: gun rights, pro-family, maybe even a few libertarians who don't want a Traitor in Chief. Those who care about the security of Israel should also turn out; although Bush could do more on that front, the alternative is downright scary! And I agree that the most important contingent of all are those of us who do not trust this bozo with guarding our a**es from terror. Let's let Kerry know New York is not going to be a cakewalk!
Jo, I still want to see that interview!
To: diotima
Is FRN planning to have a booth at the GOP National Convention?
It's a long shot, but I'm hoping to go as a delegate or alternate. It would be cool to help with the booth and counter-FReep inbetween delegate duties.
