BERLIN, March 19 (UPI) -- A German Muslim woman watching her son's trial in juvenile court was expelled from a Berlin courtroom after refusing to uncover her head.
The expulsion marks the latest chapter in Germany's debate about the place of religious clothing in public life.

If Europe's leaders do not wake up and deal with their immigration problems, they will receive a backlask in the form of the election of extreme-right Le Pen-style governments in the next few years. Mark my words.

Looks like Germany's gonna be on al Qaeda's target list now. I would imagine that, by this time next year, France and Germany are going to be demanding that the U.S. do more to battle Islamic terrorism after they both have suffered attacks.

" Some politicians would like to ban her from doing so. Andreas Gramm, spokesman for the conservative Christian Democrats told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in February a judge wearing a headscarf is "a declaration of war on the foundations of our (legal) system. "
Yes,nice rhetoric, but will you put a stop to it?
Until you do they win.

If Muslims were in fact peaceful, they would integrate into host countries the way the Amish have, keeping their customs without killing their neighbors.

Crashing airliners into skyscrapers, murdering thousands of people, is a law enforcement issue which should be resolved by lawyers over the course of several decades. BUT wearing a headscarf in a courtroom is an declaration of war.
Gotta love Old Europe.

We should do the same to the knuckleheads who wear hats indoors here. Poor manners. And it looks stupid. If you go inside a building, take off yr hat.

I presume that you refer to men only, and do not include military, police or clerical head-gear.

Does he also ban yarmulkes and traditional Catholic nuns' headwear? I'm all for banning the identity-masking face-covering type of Muslim female headwear, but banning the generic scarves is going overboard.
To: MegaSilver
While our boys are fighting and dying on the field of battle, the french and germans fight the war of headwear.

If Muslims were in fact peaceful, they would integrate into host countries the way the Amish have, keeping their customs without killing their neighbors. So Socialist anti-religous yet pro-Islam Germany (who will stand in for Old Europe) finally arrives at a crossroads. Which is it to be? 100% Secular or 100% Muslim?
Someone pass the popcorn -- this we gotta see.

I know that yarmulkes are banned in French schools. I would assume (which I know makes an ass of me) that both yarmulkes and nun's full wimples as well as veils are banned in German court also in compliance with this ruling.
I wonder how the media will play this the first time a nun has to take off her wimple. I have to agree with you GovernmentShrinker that the head covering scarves should be allowed, just as a nun's wimple or veil and a Jew's yarmulke.
The full face covering veil should only be allowed if the woman is a witness. Then her identity should be verified by a picture ID of her face (like the fight we had in FL a couple of months ago) with a female bailiff - or whatever the German equivalent of bailiff is. If a woman with a full face veil wants to view the procedings she can take it off or leave the court - her choose. What I really want to know is how Germany is going to blame the US when, not if when, more terrorist target Germany in response to this "outrage".

"I presume that you refer to men only, and do not include military, police or clerical head-gear."I would not refer to women as 'knuckleheads', strange that you would even consider that. As for military, courtesy and probably the UCMJ stipulate the removal of head cover when entering a building. Of course this does not apply while in combat or in a hostile situation. Head cover is a part of the police uniform, why should this be removed? Would you also have the police remove their shoes? As for clerical gear, what? Are you asking if the Pope should remove his head-gear? If its a duty item, keep it on. I hope this clears up yr...questions.
