I just didn't join...period...but that was while working for an "Authority" AND I was a woman. The men called me a scab but I wasn't worrying about it.

My husband was a school teacher back in the seventies and tried to get out of joining the union, to no avail.

Couldn't help but notice the similarity in the 2000 election results...
How much influence do the unions really have in politics?

Lots to see in that graph...where the economic boom is(the southeast and west) and where the stagnation is(northeast and left coast).

Thanks! I am already working with NRTW. Great resource - also helps get the blood boiling. Gotta love the hypocrisy of liberals - Free to "choose" to kill an unborn baby - Not free to "choose" if you want to support one of the single biggest obstructions to progress in America.

I know...it's very frustrating in a "free" nation to have to supply income to a group of people who don't represent your interests -just to get a job.

Thanks much folks! As one of you noted, a small start - but a start. As I said - I'm not giving up!
For my entire life I've observed the damage unions cause. I should also note that I've been a member of a good union and was happy to be a member. However, membership was not a choice, so I was lucky.

Compulsory union membership is bad for all involved - including unions.
It breaks the link between union membership and the actions of union leadership and basically leaves unions unaccountable. They then tend to become the personal little fifedoms of certain individuals who are working for their own good, and not that of their constituents.
