Hillary-friendly NBC newswoman Andrea Mitchell said Sunday that the former first lady is indeed interested in teaming up with Sen. John Kerry as his vice presidential running mate.

Dismissing the longshot prospect that Sen. John McCain might switch parties to run with Kerry, Mitchell told NBC's "Chris Matthews Show," "I think there's another long ball - Hillary."

"According to Republicans and Democrats on the Hill in the cloakrooms, she is interested in running," Mitchell insisted.

She suggested that Sen. Clinton is "doing what is necessary" right now to show proforma support for Kerry's presidential bid, but would take a much higher profile if she knew such an invitation was in the offing.

Not that I am worried about Hillary running, in fact, let's get it on...it's just that those who are making light of Andrea's comments should pause and consider the source. She just may have access to inside information that we don't.

The Kerry camp is screwing up big time by teasing with the name of McCain and allowing speculation that it might be Hillary.

If its not one of those two, the person he actually selects will look like a consolation prize to many Democrats and independents.

McCain must be expecting the VP slot. When he was asked about McCain being named VP, McCain looked visibly shaken

Kerry got caught in some faux pas that was fodder for
the Boston "news" people. He deliberately went on a
shopping spree (where have I heard that before??) with
his then - young daughters. The hounding press were
unable to ask the biting questions.

And, of course, he denied using the girls as a shield.
