Carbon dioxide, the gas largely blamed for global warming, has reached record-high levels in the atmosphere after growing at an accelerated pace in the past year, say scientists monitoring the sky from this 2-mile-high station atop a Hawaiian volcano.
Carbon dioxide, mostly from burning of coal, gasoline and other fossil fuels, traps heat that otherwise would radiate into space. Global temperatures increased by about 1 degree Fahrenheit (0.6 degrees Celsius) during the 20th century, and international panels of scientists sponsored by world governments have concluded that most of the warming probably was due to greenhouse gases.

Well we had 2 inches of snow on St. Patrick's day in S.E. Wisconsin. This in not especially unusual, though hardly a sign of dramatic warming. I think the winter was cooler than average. When the socialists start calling for building nuclear power plants, I'll begin to listen.

Scientists just this week proclaimed that global warming is due to the earth reversing its magnetic field. It has been 3/4 of a billion years since the earth reversed polarity of its fields, and we are in the first stages of the latest flip. As the earth advances towards this reversal, for a short period of time the earth loses its magnetic field. This allows the Sun to warm our atmosphere more than is usual, due to less filtration.
The field has lost about 5% of its strength over the last century, and will be at zero-flux in about 2000 years.
Now I want to hear what brilliant solutions the environmental-whacko's will come up with to counter this "new revelation"?!

Doesn't more Co2 just make more plants grow? Isn't that what they breathe?

They will ignore facts as usual. It just doesn't 'feel' good.

Every time a person [or anyone one of the many billions of animals] breathes out, he or she exhales CO2 which the lungs have removed from the bloodstream, where it is the waste product left when cells burn carbohydrates to make energy.
That's what I thought! Thanks for saving me the search time. Maybe if the dims were real environmentalists they'd just stop breathing and solve the global warming "problem". Works for me! ;-)

Typical troll post and then no response to reasoned arguments against their position. Can we get a zot over here?

>>He's probably driving a '74 Pinto.<<
I had a 79 Pinto. White with red interior. All my friends learned how to drive a stick on it. Full AM/FM 8-Track with four speakers. It was hot, hot, hot.
This was, however, in 1979, when the world was freezing from the coming Ice age....

Carbon dioxide, mostly from burning of coal, gasoline and other fossil fuels, traps heat that otherwise would radiate into space. Ummm... This is simply not true and not a scientific fact. The totality of human caused CO2 is a couple of percentage points of the entire total. Most of the carbon oxide in the atmosphere is there via natural causes and part of the world we live in and has been so for hundreds of millions of years.

Welcome to Free Republic.
Have a nice day.
If you want to find a receptive audience, I suggest DU (Dummies' Underground). Freepers are aware of which direction "climate" flows in the northern hemisphere. Perhaps you may also want to post your crap in Russia and the Pacific Islands. Good luck.

Tiny minds know that as an article of faith, all world events prior to when they were born don't matter.
One of the benefits of limited intelligence.
Never mind that the identical events happened 130,000 , 240,000 , 330,000 , and 450,000 years ago. This time their superior brainpower can prove that a different source of factors are causing it. Just don't hold your breath waiting around to hear it.

I had a 79 Pinto. I had some model close to that (maybe a little older) and you couldn't kill it. It was also stick shift, but drove a little rough, we used it as a backup car for years until it became to bad an eyesore.

Sheesh! CO2 is plant food. The biggest cause of aspiration of CO2 on the planet are trees! Actually, the top few feet of the ocean is, not trees, actually the amazon forest creates more co2 than it uses, because of the decay on the forest floor.
You will not hear a liberal scream cut the Amazon down though for the CO2 emmisions.
