Any Guesses On Who Will Be John Kerry's Running Mate?

I think Kerry will surprise everyone, with his choice of running mate. I am thinking of 4 possibilities.
One possibility may be Max Cleland. Cleland's advantages are that he served in Vietnam, and he is from the South. It will be portrayed as an all-hero ticket, with geographical balance. There is also the victimology issue. Democrats have had great success in portraying Cleland as having been smeared by the mean, ugly, nasty, cruel, hateful and sadistic Republicans, in his 2002 re-election effort. Nominating Cleland as his running mate, will help Kerry remind voters, especially soccer mums, how mean, ugly, nasty, cruel, hateful and sadistic the Republicans are.
The other possibility may be Sen. Robert Byrd, who would help Kerry carry West Virginia, which Democrats lost last time to President Bush.
Pat "Osama Mama" Murray of Washington State is another possibility, which may be done in the name of women's rights, and enable Kerry to match Mondale's gender equality move of 1984.
Kerry might also need an experienced and well-rounded candidate like Jerold Nadler of New York, who is, well....round.

I don't think Richardson wants the veep. I think he'd rather go for it all since usually VP's don't win....governors do, and he's already a governor.

I'll second the guess for Edwards - On his own Kerry doesn't stand a prayer in the South. Or maybe Clark?
All kidding aside - Pee Wee Herman to help with the younder vote.

Nancy Pelosi Lawsy, I hope not. If she gets one more face lift - she will have to bend over at the waist to talk cos her eyes will be at the back of her head. Remind you guys of a deer caught in your headlights look? (meow)

that dusty old document known as the Constitution hasn't stopped the Rats before. Somehow I doubt it would in Ford's case.

>>Byrd - you're joking?<<
Are you aware that Bob Byrd served as Senate majority leader of the Democratic Party in the 1970s.
The majority of Dem senators voted for him, and the KKK-thing did not bother them at the time.
What makes you think it will be a problem this time? His age? He is a spring chicken compared to Strom, when the late Strom was running for re-election in his last term.
And Kerry may just want Byrd to serve one term.

My bet is on Richardson, for the hispanic vote and Southwest. However, what Kerry needs is national security weight, such as from Lieberman. The problem is (hopefully) that then people will just contrast Kerry with his VP.

Kerry has been courting trouble with the black vote. That's why I think he might pick Harold Ford Jr. I don't know. I find it terribly indicting that the party that gets 90% percent of the black vote never selects a black for their ticket. The truth is, they are hard pressed to find a qualified person. The conservatives have all the impressive, qualified blacks on their side.
With all the fuss over Lieberman being the first Jewish nominee, the fuss over a first black nominee would be huge. That's why I wanted Bush to pick Watts last time around (that and I really like the guy).
