THE controversial Mel Gibson film 'The Passion of the Christ' has been dismissed by the Evangelical Protestant Society as a 'Catholic' interpretation of events which "does not present the Gospel".
Wallace Thompson, secretary of the Evangelical Protestant Society, said the film displayed "an un-Biblical fixation on Mary, the mother of Jesus. None of this should surprise us, for both Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezel, who plays the part of Christ, are enthusiastic devotees of the traditional teachings of the Church of Rome."
He further claims that Mel Gibson "belongs to an ultra-conservative Catholic group which does not recognise the reforms of Vatican II, and celebrates Mass in Latin".
Mr Thompson says that "this malign influence of Rome ought to cause all evangelical Protestants to reject The Passion of the Christ" and refuse to be swayed by the subtleties of the alleged arguments in favour of it.
Sadly, however, it will be welcomed and praised by many who ought to know better."
Mr Thompson also says that the film is "extremely violent", and that "anyone who watches it will be shaken and possibly terrified by its graphic and bloody scenes."

For someone who types a lot of stuff, you aren't saying anything we haven't already heard. Claims inspite of the truth is not the truth. If you had any self-awareness you wouldn't be so funny.

It has nothing to do with whether the spiritually living in heaven can speak with God or not. It has to do with whether or not they can interact with you. They are not forbidden to speak to God, they are cut off from being able to speak to or interact with you by God's own statutes. They can't hear you or respond to you. If they could hear you, they couldn't respond to you. If you want proof, I'll prove it to you. I'll give you 1 million bucks if you can stand in an arena of 1 billion people while they all shout at you at random for one minute at the same time and you can write down the name, number, address and exact thing they said. You aren't God, you can't do it and for the same reason, they can't. They are not diety. LOL. Whoever it was who said that you guys are just trapped thinking in time was right on the money. If you had even an inkling of what eternity was about you would understand this, and the many more things you can't grasp. Like how a "one-time" sacrifice can be made present in time again.

Good deeds don't get you saved. Nor do they have any part in getting you saved. "IT IS WRITTEN" remember that? Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Works have nothing whatever to do with salvation as Paul stated plainly - lest any man boast that his good deeds played any part.

Sorry, I saw the nun outfit she was wearing - insignificant. I don't see the idolatry that one would expect to see if it were centered on Mary ala the Pope's
blasphemous prayers that I've heard quoted. This centers on Christ. Rome should be glad Mel didn't present their doctrine of the Eucharist in all it's splendor. He'd have gone broke.
Havoc (#70)
When the pope puts his soul in Mary's hands and beseaches her to secure for him his salvation. That's blasphemy. It makes a point. This is not the type of thing that made it into Mel's movie. So I think it goes overboard to say it's "too catholic". I was actually bracing myself to see that sort of thing show up. I'm glad it did not or I'd have asked for my money back.
Havoc (#186) :
"To you mother of the human family and of nations we confidently entrust the whole of humanity with
it's hopes and fears. Do not let it lack the light of true wisdom. Guide it's steps in the ways
of peace. Enable all to meet Christ. Sustain us oh virgin mary on our journey of faith and
obtain for us the grace of eternal salvation" - Pope John Paul II - "Prayer for the Marian year"

It really disgusts me that you would delibrately misquote the Pope to make your pathetic anti-Catholicism work. I had know idea that your obsession was this pronounced. The actual prayer actually goes like this:
Enable all to meet Christ, the Way and the Truth and the Life. Sustain us, O Virgin Mary, on our journey of faith and obtain for us the grace of eternal salvation. O clement, O loving, O sweet Mother of God and our Mother, Mary!
You left the bolded part out because it destroys the point you were trying to make. That part of the prayer is the Pope's appeal to the Blessed Mother to help us know Christ better. As you may or may not know. The part you omitted is, of course, a direct referrence to John 14:6
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
I am all to happy to expose you for the cheap charlatan that you are. You tellingly did not provide a link. The Pope's prayer, in its entirety, is here. You will be a much healthier person when you give up your irrational crusade against the RCC and focus on the things that are truely important.
you half quoted the prayer, leaving out the real portion

It has spread it's own words and you are changing the subject. Rome's fruits include the inquisitions, the happenings of the Crusades. The persecution of the Jews - when, btw, did Rome finally recognize Israel as a state? And why is Rome trying to internationalize Jarusalem? OOPS. I understand that Rome thinks Catholicism has replaced Israel as the chosen people; but, that ain't scriptural either. You guys are saturated with the unscriptural. So I'll repeat - making claims in spite of the truth isn't truth. It's a facade.

The Apocryphals are not scripture. Sorry. Just because it came from the early centuries don't make it scripture. I understand you can't tell the difference; but, that's why I'm here to point it out.

Peter wasn't the Bishop of Rome. And Pope is the title, not Bishop. Remember "Vicar of Christ". That title came from the Roman Emperors. In place of Christ = antichrist.
Amazing how that works isn't it. Now, are you going to just continue sniping with soundbites and claims or are you going to eventually say something?

So you think the Crusades trying to rescue Christians from the yoke of Islam was wrong?

Hmmm all Christians believe that CHRISTIANS have replaced Israel as the Chosen people, the royal priesthood, the Holy Nation.

The problem is that you're using half truths (as depicted in post #901) and the mock 'em game: post #880: "Right, and pigs fly."
And I'll repeat again:
so, which Theodosius and which Asia are you referring to? And do you seriously claim that the book of Moroni is the same level as the Apocrypha that were held as sacred works by the Jews at the time of Christ? And what more do you state as the only truth as opposed to the Truth of the Christ through His Apostles and through His Apostolic Church, now known as the roman Catholic Church?
Didn't you say that :
Havoc (post #827): In the time of the Apostles, Asia turned away from Paul's teachings. Asia ain't tiny.
This shows your lack of knowledge. Asia at that time meant only Asia Minor, only the Greek city states, only what is now the coast line of Turkey. He did NOT mean the entire continent of Asia.

Why don't you demonstrate it by fasting "one-time" and re-presenting it for 30 consecutive days?
