If that's true, it's hard to imagine how both the President and the Vice President could be injured by the same firework accident. I guess it could happen, but it seems unlikely.

If that is the case...then doesn't sound life threatening.

So much news, information, and disinformation is happening at this time that its hard to keep track of it all.

Hold the call to your broker.

Actually I should probably visit the grocery store - might be indoors for awhile. If us and China get it on, it's a bit of a problem for me because I'm 50-60 miles directly downwind of Washington, and the CEP for Chinese ICBMs suck. ;)

Lawmaker: Taiwan's President Chen Shot

WILLIAM FOREMAN

Associated Press

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwanese leader Chen Shui-bian was shot in the stomach Friday while campaigning on last day of the presidential election, a lawmaker traveling with the president said.

But CTI cable news quoted unidentified police officials as saying the 53-year-old president was injured by celebratory fireworks that are traditionally ignited as the president's motorcade passes by.

Lawmaker Wang Hsing-nan told TVBS cable news that he was certain the president was shot because he saw the wound in the hospital and it was serious.

"The president suffered a deep wound about three centimeters (1.2 inches) deep in the stomach," Wang told TVBS.

Wang said he was traveling in a car behind Chen's convertible four-wheel-drive vehicle.

The Presidential Office told The Associated Press that it did not have enough information to discuss the incident. Officials said that a news conference would be held shortly.

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) - Taiwanese leader Chen Shui-bian was shot in the stomach Friday while campaigning on last day of the presidential election, a legislator travelling with the president said.

"The president suffered a deep wound - about three centimetres deep in the stomach," legislator Wang Hsing-nan told TVBS cable news. Wang said he was travelling in a car behind Chen's motorcade as it drove through the streets campaigning in the southern city of Tainan.
