(VASNITY) I got a phone solicitation from Republican Party

..... at least I THINK i did.
I got a phone call the other day. It was from a woman who was reading from a script. She was soliciting contributions for the Republican Party.
She had an Indian (I think) accent, and when I asked here if she was with the RNC, she said she wasn't. She said her organization helps elect Republican candidates around the country.
I asked her where she was located, and she said outside of DC in Virginia. I was skeptical, so I asked her what time it was in Virginia. She did not know. I said it was ridiculous that she didn't know the time. She put me on hold, and then came back and told me the time.... She said that she could not see the wall clock from her desk.
She said she was going to send me the pledge form in 3-5 days.
Anyway, her "supervisor" called the next night to confirm everything -- not sure why. And she couldn't tell me the time in Virginia either. She said it was about 2:00 when in fact it was about 7:00.
Did any one else get a similar call? Does anyone else find this strange?
Is it possible some outside group is sabotaging the credibility of the RNC and collecting contributions for some other political party? .....
The folks weren't very professional either....
Comments welcome. Thanks.

I get emails from the RNC all the time. I've gotten one phone call but the young lady sounded very American and was upset when I told her that until the administration stopped kissing Arafat's a$$, they wouldn't see another nickel from me. Never called again. Wonder why?

Vasnity of vasnities, saith Constitution Day, vasnity of vasnities; all is vasnity.

You could ping the Admin Mod to give your title a VAS-ectomy.

I got one from the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee wanting a donation.
My response: "Congress passed a $534 billion welfare program and stuck me with the bill, they increased farm subsidies, they jacked up funding for the National Endowment for the Arts, they expanded the Department of Education and they passed McCain/Feingold/Shays/Meehan. If you are not interested in the Constitution or free speech then you are obviously not interested in my campaign contribution."
Then I hang up.

Didn't you have a vasnity years ago? I hear they do them on an outpatient basis now - very quick recovery time. If you haven't done it, I think you should consider it. We don't really need more of your kind in this world.

Maybe they've outsourced their phone banks to India?
To: Constitution Day
I hear vasnities can be reversed now days. It's painful, but can be done.
To: Munch
Contact the RNC directly and ask them if they are outsourcing their telemarketing to India, now.

The red flag in your account is the failure of the telemarketer to clearly identify her organization. "Collecting for the Republican Party" is not adequate identification. Anyone calling for the RNC -- whether the call is from the RNC's inhouse phone bank or one of the several outside firms contracting with the RNC -- will identify themselves as calling for the RNC. They will also usually drop the Chairman's name early on as another point of identification.

A vasnity is like a vanity, except you're firing for range and not for effect.

It's painful, but can be done.Ouch. Sounds like a series procedure. ;)

I believe that is the point Munch was making, but you know FReepers, we can't get past the spelling mistakes.
I did telemarketing once. For a week. Only job I ever got fired from, and I really didn't care.

ROTFLMAOPIMP!!!!
To sway away from the "Vansity" topic (Which is cracking me up by the way), I'd ignore these calls. Everything I get from the RNC is in the mail (Including the great photo of President Bush and Laura).
