"Everything's fine" doesn't improve anything folks, though FR is the finest site on the web. :)

I'll get flamed for this but, here goes...

I find it rather fun to slam on leftists ("liberals" in the vernacular) but there aren't any to be had on FR.

I can see kicking their butts off the site if they break the rules, but otherwise, they should be allowed to stay and take their punishment from people who think in a logical manner (FReepers).

I understand that it is difficult for a leftist to be able to argue without breaking the profanity rules, but if they don't - leave them up as clay pidgeons.

I am curious about the specifics of why trolls get booted. I kind of miss having MurrayMom to kick around, particularly since I am unable to collect on a bet we made about the direction of the stock market.

No flame from me. I was thinking the same thing. Sometimes we should be allowed to play with them awhile before the big zot comes down.
There are a *few* left-leaners on FR. They just don't make themselves well known by jumping up and down and posting some off-the-wall totally anti-conservative thread that tries to laugh at the rest of us and says "look at me - I'm from DU!!"
Those guys post their tripe, get immediately banned, then run back to their hole and watch the sparks fly.

Oh well, It would be nice if they actually learned something.

These are not gripes, but input. If you don't change it, no skin off my nose, this palce is still the most fun of any on the web.

I agree with scan58, it would be nice to use trolls as a pinata for a bit before the mods exercise SIOP Option 21-Z and nuke 'em 'till they glow. That said, if we err, it's better to err on the side of ejecting trolls early and often. If you doubt me, go over to The Opinion sometime and read the conversation boards that go with the articles. The boards are unmoderated and some of these people are just so completely stupid that they probably can't chew gum and breathe at the same time. It's nice to go over there every once in a while and make a couple of kills, but I sure wouldn't want to live there.

Also I'd like to see troll comments left as is, as an exhibit of their stupidity. If they use profanity or threats, that's one thing (maybe the "marker" where their post was could say "removed for profanity" or "removed for Hitler comparison" or "removed for threats") but if it's just something like "How can you jerks sleep at night knowing you killed 50,000 Iraqi kids for oil," I want some pinata time!

Oh, is that why in FR polls, such as those "who would you vote for" things, people such as Hillary and sKerry always receive votes (albeit few) ?

I think I kind of agree with that. Let them stay. And we're nicer than DU. It's fun for the kitties to bat the rats around a little.

Is there some sort of "I agree to these rules" form new members have to sign before being allowed to post?(I forget- I've been here a few years so I can't remember) If new members had to check each rule - such as "I agree not to use profane language" then they would at least have to read the user agreement rather than just scroll down and hit the "I agree" button to register

Just my two cents -- I think the moderators do a wonderful job, and THANK YOU JIM ROB for establishing this forum.

Agree with you all. Could we designate a seperate section titled, "The Litterbox," and just banish the trolls there so they couldn't post on any of the other areas; yet we can rip them up?

I have to go to the Metallica forums if I'm in the mood for some leftist grubs. Lots over there.

While I see your point about wanting to take on the lefties, I for one do not want them here. The reason is, that I have to listen to them 24/7 in the media, and on other web sites, and this is the one safe place on earth where we can gripe, complain, and let out our frustrations as well as discuss the issues and generate activism. Who needs 'em here?
