Lt. Col. Lindy Kirkland, left, and Maj. Rob Krieg are shown at Quantico, Va., on Tuesday. The two Marine aviators will attempt to fly 1500 miles and land on 100 Virginia runways in a 24-hour period next Tuesday to raise $100,000 for the charity Angel Flight East.

A Marine reads a book while guarding the port in the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Sunday.

One of the most popular books among the Marines is "The secret life of Walter Mitty" but many of the Troops found it to be a bit too fantastic.

Marines relax in Port-au-Prince on Sunday.

Some critics have complained that sending the Marines to an all-inclusive resort in Haiti was a bit extravagant, and a definite budget buster.

Unfortunately, none of the Syrian wetbacks were fluent in the dialects of the remote Iraqi villages where the Troops were being deployed to, so none were hired.

A Humvee gunner from the 1st Cavalry Division yells to comrades while retreating from a stone-throwing mob outside Camp Bonzai, in Baghdad, on March 2. The Fort Hood-based 1st Cavalry Division will in the next few weeks take over control of all of Baghdad from the 1st Armored Division.

The new steering implements on the re-armored HumVees were received with glee by the Troops who largely agreed that the controls just felt "natural."
