WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.
"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

Rabi al Awwal (Rabi I) and Rabi al Thani (Rabi II or Rabi 2) are two months of the 12 month Islamic calendar. It's a lunar based calendar.
The two months are sequential; Rabi I is immediately followed by Rabi II.

I probably should also mention that the Prophet Mohamed's birthday (Milad al Nabi) is celebrated on the 17th of Rabi I.
If memory serves me correctly, the Islamic calendars project that will fall this this year on May 13

Regarding the significance of dates to the islamists I think one has to remember the content of the koran and hadtih were compiled several hundred years after the death of the 'prophet'. Mohammad and his band were illiterate brigands. Numbers in islam are filled with mystisism, such as their veneration of the number 19. Their time reckoning was Lunar. There was actually a time when islam tried to prevent other cultures from using the number 19. Allah they said, gave it to them. I'm no astronomer but I think it's 19 days from crescent to crescent...thus is the crescent shown on the flag of islam...and that 'star' you see on the flag represents a particular position of Venus which historically has not occurred ( but they are waiting for it!)
Islamic lore contains much of the astrology of the ancient ME such as the Babylonian. A study of the mystical meaning of numbers in islam would probably require more time than what it's worth, in my humble opinion...one might as well study voodoo. It works for some! The islamic clerics can make a case from the koran or hadith for almost anything.
However, an understanding of the mind of the 'prophet' may hold us in good stead. Nothing of their written material makes sense without the biography of the 'prophet' (Know your enemy.)
May I direct you to:

Where you will find an article I wrote - if you go to the source (Arutz) you will find the site address where you can download on Acrobat a very studious work written in 1913 by The Reverend Canon Edward Sell. This work will answer many questions.

Imagine if one side decides that it would be fun to build an underground complex, start a nuclear war, and come back out from under ground later and have the whole world to themselves. I believe that is there plan.

Top Al Qaeda Militant Killed in Saudi Shootout
Mon Mar 15, 2004 06:10 PM ET
RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabian security forces shot dead a Yemeni man believed to be a leading al Qaeda figure in the kingdom as well as another militant in a shootout in Riyadh on Monday, officials said.
The Saudi Press Agency quoted a source at the Interior Ministry as saying Khaled Ali Ali Haj, a Yemeni man reported to be a senior al Qaeda figure, was killed along with suspected militant Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammad al-Muzainy. (snip)

Sometimes, to me, it seems that the entire situation is a hall of mirrors. What we see as defensive the Russians convince their people is provocative. No doubt they harbor suspicions about the enlargement of NATO. Things are pretty much on a hair-trigger alert.
Now, add in AQ (probably funded by the Russians on some level) and it seems very likely we will be faced with nuclear detonations on US soil; also various biochemical attacks and the like. I don't think it will "just" be AQ going after us--Russia and China, IMO, are a part of their coalition.
There was a post on the Mutter's site last night that said that there were off line rumors to suggesting that when things heat up in Israel- that may well be the "go code" for the rest of the AQ attacks.

Just got home from the hospital a few minutes ago. Thanks so much for the prayers and positive thoughts on my behalf.
Good news: the procedure went well, and I'll be back at work in a day or 2 or 3. (Hey, at least I get to FReep to my heart's content for the next few days.)
Not so good news: I'm facing at least 2 more surgeries over the next several weeks.
When I told my Mom I truly wished I didn't have any sinuses, she told me, "Without 'em, your head would be too heavy to lift." Gotta love maternal wisdom...

We did have troops in Georgia, a while back. Not certain if they remain there or have returned.
Adzharia is a breakaway province of Georgia, and has a diplomatic mission to the Kremlin. Kind if convenient isnt it, especially since Russia is a hair trigger away from invading them to re-consolidate their former empire.

Thanks, knak.
Gotta question for you: do you still post on the Yahoo "EOM and Daleel" site? I was one of the first to join over there, but after my computer crashed, I haven't tried to go back over there. If so, any new developments?

There's a paragraph on Jills site where alqaeda is boasting about the madrid bombings and stating (what I think) are threats to do the same to Bush and Blair before their elections.
