WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.
"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

http://www.foxnews.com/ Spain, after Sunday's election results and the terrorist bombing, has announced it will withdraw its troops from Iraq by June 30
I don't blame Spain for withdrawing troops from Iraq
I think it is outrageous Spain is withdrawing its troops
I am indifferent to Spain withdrawing troops
I am not outraged, but I think Spain is wrong in withdrawing its troops

I think we really need to consider not only what this does for the terrorist mindset in general (re: strategy), but I think it's important to learn whether or not the orders for this attack came from the top, or if this is a "self-directed" faction of al Qaeda which acted on its own.
If this was a compartmentalized operation, this bodes even worse for the future. Not only does AQ in general acquire a blueprint to overthrow Christian capitalist Europe, but these internal factions will be emboldened to emulate their bretheren, regardless of AQ leadership, now that they've seen a massive attack can be consummated.
There's the rub. It's an important question to be answered. I would feel 'better' knowing it came from the top, and not some rogue group forwarding their agenda as they see fit...

Putin is a danger!
Don't know if anyone has posted, read or is reading a book that just came out. This book could be written from the pages of our threads! But it gives scenario's that we have not yet thought of! This book is frightening and riveting! A definite must have! It is so Clancy but more like FR ;):
Making use of an innovative plot device, Thor resuscitates that old Cold War bugbear, Russia, as a credible threat to our country's very existence. Twenty years before the story's start, Russian agents hide at least 19 suitcase nuclear devices in secret locations throughout the United States.
As the book opens, President Jack Rutledge is ordered by the Russians to inform the American people in his State of the Union address that America will withdraw forthwith from world affairs, remove its troops from all foreign countries, surrender its seat in the United Nations and divest itself of all involvement with the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization and the G-8.
If he does not do as he is commanded, sleeper agents will set off the hidden nuclear weapons, and millions of Americans will die. Harvath-former SEAL, former Secret Service agent and special agent with the Office of International Investigative Assistance-is assigned the job of thwarting this nefarious plan, and he's got seven days to do it.
Assisting him are many stalwarts drawn from elite military and other government agencies, all armed with the most techno of weapons, each lovingly described. As the clock ticks down, the battle takes Harvath around the globe, from a brothel in Berlin to the frigid waters of the Baltic Sea and back to the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
It's a complex plot, but Thor (host of the PBS television program Traveling Lite) keeps everyone in line and trotting briskly ahead. Readers of the genre will understand that Harvath's triumph is a foregone conclusion and will marvel at the canny plan and clever devices he employs to succeed.

Like most, if not all here, I visit other forums and thought that the article you found would be of interest to some on another forum who were also posting about the divers so I copied it over to the other forum, giving credit where it was due, of course. It's brought a question to mind, though. Being new around here, I'm not sure if there are rules to follow concerning that. Is it ok to do that, with a note that it was found here and a link or should I ask first?

The new socialist in Spain alleges the attack is because they were our ally and it was wrong for them to send troops. BUT the good news is the other countries are stepping up, especially Poland. Poland was due to hand over control to Spain in June and will now maintain control!
My thanks to my fellow countrymen and also to Italy and those allies who are condemning Spain and staying with us!
