WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.

"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

To me it appears that they are giving us a thousand cuts.

Accidents, Norovirus and other diseases.

It is unsafe to buy food.

I approve of the staking and 1,000 cuts method of punishment and can think of several that I would delight in using it on.

I don't think phone lines being cut would be related to electricity.

Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of lines getting cut by the bells own unions. There was a section in NY that had no phone service at all for an entire week.

From the USGS-CVG website concerning the quakes on Mt. St. Helens the day prior to the eruption: May 17 - The mountain remained quiet. Seismic activity reached the lowest level for May, with only 18 earthquakes larger than 3.0 recorded (including 6 larger than magnitude 4.0). In response to pressure from property owners and with the Governor's consent, law enforcement officials escorted about 50 carloads of property owners into the Red Zone to retrieve possessions. Those who entered were required to sign liability waivers at the roadblocks and to leave by nightfall. Authorities agreed to allow another caravan of property owners in at 10:00 a.m. the following morning.

From this it is evident large earthquakes are not necessarily a prerequisite of imminent eruption. Smaller and/or swarm quakes are every bit as indicative that something may be up (figuratively.

This week, nine Air Force major commands and two Air Force agencies are engaged in Exercise Black Demon to root out insidious computer hackers who would seek to destroy the Air Force™s operations with but a few keystrokes.

I thought the threat was that they would give us warning time to turn on our TV's and watch it happen if memory serves me right. Most of us are out and about on weekends, at least most of the people I know.

I think it may have been this John Draper that Art Bell interviewed several years ago.

He told how he had used the whistle and other tricks, he did say that his tricks would not work now.

Let us hope that a simple plastic whistle will not still take control of a phone system.

I recall something about too many people learning the trick and the phone companies finally found out about it, and then shut it down. He went to jail for a while.

At the beginning of the month Reuters announced there were nine merchant marines suspected of having terrorist ties:

Shifflet would not disclose what had happened to the nine mariners suspected of possible terror links, only saying, "We‘ve taken steps to mitigate the potential risks posed by these individuals."

Here's another story with great pictures of how they were trapped. This is such an odd story, now the Mexican government says they are there illegally. And the story about uranium doesn't have a reason. Could they have been looking for something previously hidden there? Although from the internet it appears these caves are regularly frequented by cavers.

Alleged Bin Laden Tape Calls For Jihad

Tape Purportedly From Bin Laden Urges Suicide Attacks

Islamabad, Pakistan — An audio tape purportedly from al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden warned Muslims everywhere they are under threat from the United States, and called for suicide attacks against U.S. and British interests to “avenge the innocent children” of Iraq.

The 27-minute tape quoted extensively from the Muslim holy book, the Koran, and said jihad, or holy war, was the “only solution to all the problems.”

The tape was obtained Monday by The Associated Press from an Algerian national, identified only as Aadil, who said he had slipped across the border from Afghanistan where the tape was apparently recorded.

There was no way to independently confirm that the voice on the tape was that of bin Laden. But it was translated by an Arabic-speaking Afghan who met with the terrorist mastermind years ago and who said he believed the voice appeared to be his.

There also was no clear indication of when the tape was made. But from the message, it appeared to have been recorded after the outbreak of war in Iraq last month.

“You should avenge the innocent children who have been assassinated in Iraq. “Be united against [President George W.] Bush and [British Prime Minister Tony] Blair and defeat them with suicide attacks so that you may be successful before Allah,” urges the voice purported to be that of bin Laden.

“Oh Muslim brothers, let us promise to devote our lives to martyrdom in the way of Allah. America has attacked Iraq and soon will also attack Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Sudan. You should be aware that kafirs [non-Muslims] cannot bear the existence of Muslims and want to capture their resources and destroy them.”

In the tape, bin Laden’s supposed voice urges the faithful to attack governments in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Unlike previous recordings allegedly by bin Laden, this one has a single theme — suicide attacks.

“All of them have been imposed upon you and jihad against them is your duty,” said the Arabic-language tape, handed to AP in the remote northwestern region of Pakistan.

The only other individual identified by name on the tape was Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai.

“One of the slaves of America is Karzai in Afghanistan because he supported kafirs over Muslims. Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi are also agents of America,” the voice said.

Bin Laden has been in hiding since a U.S.-led coalition ousted the Taliban regime that gave him protection in Afghanistan in December 2001. He is believed to cross back and forth between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

After the capture last month of his top lieutenant, Khaled Shaikh Mohammed, near Islamabad, Pakistani authorities said they were closing in on the elusive terrorist, who is the prime suspect behind the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

The messenger, Aadil, has an association with bin Laden dating back to the 1980s invasion of Afghanistan by the former Soviet Union. Aadil worked in Peshawar with Abdullah Azzam, a Palestinian, who together with bin Laden founded Makhtab al Khidmat, the organization that recruited Middle Eastern fighters to Afghanistan.

Aadil said he was in Pakistan to locate his two colleagues arrested last week in the northwestern city of Peshawar after FBI agents intercepted calls made from a cell phone.

The tape delivered by Aadil condemned Muslim governments who have supported the U.S.-led coalition’s war on Iraq and the global war that has targeted bin Laden.

The cassette tape made repeated promises of heaven for those who carried out suicide attacks.

“I ask the Muslim women to join jihad by providing food to mujahedeen [holy warriors]. Elders should pray for us. I am proud of those martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Islam.”

“Do not be afraid of their tanks and armored personnel carriers. These are artificial things,” he said. “If you started suicide attacks you will see the fear of Americans all over the world. Those people who cannot join forces in jihad should give financial help to those mujahedeen who are fighting against U.S. aggression.”
