WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.
"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

We all knew that Daleel would not keep quiet for long. I guess he just couldn't resist. From: "caveofdarkness" Date: Mon Mar 22, 2004 8:45 am Subject: Israels and American pigs, you have opened the gates of hell From the heart of Al-Qaida and the mojahideen to the heart of the Palestinian people and to the Muslim Umma, we send our condolence's to the death of the warrior shaikh Ahmad Yasseen. Israel will not pay for his death alone, America and the rest of the west will pay for backing up of Israel. What Israel and America don't understand is that when ever a leader like shaikh Ahmad Yasseen is assassinated a thousand new leaders are born! This is an Umma that never dies thanks to God almighty. Punishment will follow soon, but this time it will be from all the Muslims at once, in other words Al-Qaida's surprise is coming and we will have a word in the heart of Israel, and you will see soon. Israel's and American pigs, you have opened the gates of hell Alaah akbaar Daleel_Almojahid

Gas vendors on alert (Thailand)
Published on Mar 23, 2004
The Energy Business Department yesterday called on operators of petrol and cooking-gas storage and dispensing facilities - particularly in the deep South - to tighten security due to fears they could be targeted by terrorists.
Director-general Viroj Klangboonkrong urged distributors and vendors to be vigilant and implement measures to guard against attacks.
The department is also concerned fuel could be sold to terrorists and used in arson attacks.(snipped)

I'm not so sure there will be any major retalliation by the Pali's. The reason I say this is Arafat has called for major attacks against Isreal at least 3 times in the last 3 weeks. Still not much of anything happening. I think the elimination of Iraqi funding has had a real effect on the Pali's willingness and ability to do anything. I think Isreal is actually starting to win this one.
Time will tell.
To: Selene
The Pali's have said that numerous times over the last month. haven't seen anything like an earthquake yet.
Though I did notice the word "Volcano" used in one of the responses issued by the pali's.
Wasn't volcano a keyword for an AQ attack a short time ago?

What was said by the palis after the assissination of Yassin is they would shake Israel LIKE an earthquake in retalition. Not that there would be an earthquake or they would produce an actual earthquake.

Oil tanker, fishing boat collide
From correspondents in Manama, Oman
23mar04
A MALTESE-FLAGGED oil tanker carrying an estimated 80,000 tonnes of oil collided today with another vessel off the coast of Oman leaving one crew member missing and causing a fire and a light oil spill, an official said.
The tanker, called Everton and carrying a 45-member multi-national crew, collided with what was believed to be a Korean-flagged fishing boat, Captain Abdul Munim Janahi, the head of the Marine Emergency Mutual Aid Centre (MEMAC) said.
One crew member from the tanker is still reported missing but a fire and oil spill as a result of the collision are now under control, he added.
The fishing boat, named Chunying, fled the scene and is being pursued by the coastguard, Janahi said.
A US warship in nearby waters responded to an SOS call from the tanker after the early morning collision, he said.
MEMAC and Omani environmental authorities are currently dealing with the limited oil spill and the few flames that were still burning early today, he added.

Yeah, right, exactly.
And they've said that many times in the last month.
Still nothing of "earthquake" proportions has happened IMHO.

Lichen Blamed for Elk Deaths in Wyoming Mon Mar 22, 2:03 PM ET
By SARAH COOKE, Associated Press Writer
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Solving a grim mystery that had baffled scientists across the country, researchers have concluded that the recent deaths of a least 300 elk in southern Wyoming were caused by a mossy plant native to the Rockies.
State wildlife veterinarians suspected lichen as the culprit in the die-off after finding it in the stomachs of many dead elk.
To confirm their suspicions, three elk were fed the plant at a research center. One collapsed and was unable to rise Sunday. A second elk also started stumbling, and a third is expected to succumb quickly. All three will be destroyed.
State officials had investigated a number of possible explanations, including deliberate poisoning, for why elk were slumping to the ground and could not get up. Many eventually died of thirst.
"We've answered the biggest and most important question: What the heck is killing these elk?" Wyoming Game and Fish Department spokesman Tom Reed said. "It's a huge relief for everyone involved."
The lichen, known as Parmelia molliuscula, contains an acid that may break down muscle tissue, causing the elk to lose strength, said Walt Cook, a Game and Fish veterinarian.
Native elk were not affected by the acid; those killed in the die-off were apparently new to the area where the deaths occurred and may have lacked microorganisms needed to neutralize the acid.
"Elk don't normally winter down ... where they ate the lichen," Reed said. "But, for whatever reason, this year they moved in there."
The first sick elk was found Feb. 6 and scientists quickly ruled out chronic wasting disease, the deer and elk version of mad cow disease. They also eliminated most viruses and bacteria, malnutrition, exposure to heavy metals such as arsenic, and poisoning from a leaky gas well or pipeline.
Wildlife experts drove into the rough country near the Continental Divide and slogged through mud and melting snow to collect plant specimens and elk droppings. For a time, researchers used a helicopter at $900 an hour to search for afflicted elk.
Scientists will now look at how to prevent similar die-offs.
"There are a lot of factors we'll need to look at," Reed said. "Do elk eat this lichen in normal years? If so, why hasn't this happened before? Does a long history of drought weigh in somehow? If so, what are our management options in the future?"
The die-off, which killed as many as 5 percent of the Sierra Madre herd's breeding females, will affect hunting quotas this fall and could trigger wildlife policy changes, Reed said.
Other steps, such as improving range conditions to provide healthier forage, will also be considered.
