Boortz has always said that the lottery is a tax on the stupid.
This guy certainly adds credibility to that opinion.

After winning 500+ million dollars one can afford to carry 500K around. Even after taxes the dude is still left with a good amount of cash. Right now i would praise God so much if i got 500K, goodness, even enough to pay off my tuition bills would be a Godsend. Hence to me 500K is a lot of cash, for now.
However once a person has millions upon millions in the bank, then 500K becomes chump change.

Police said the business office of Jack Whittaker (search), who hit the $314.9 million Powerball jackpot on Christmas 2002, was broken into Tuesday and $2,000 was taken. What do you bet that whatever is left of this 314 mil is gone in five years or less. You either have the knack to make this kind of money and manage it or you don't. He don't. And luck has nothing to do with it.

They must not take American Express at the joints frequented by Mr. Whittaker - cash only, preferably stuck into the g-string a bill at a time or into the video poker machine a quarter at a time.

$314 million Powerball jackpot is about $155 million if you take it all up front, then take half of that away for state and federal taxes...he probably got about $78 million. Still, not too bad. :)
