Check out this Deposition saying Libya had nothing to do with Pan Am flight 103.

Ummmmm...I guess Libya admitted it anyway, just for kicks.

"Lockerbie Trial Document: Susan Lindauer Deposition" (4 December 1998) <-- 1998 residence in Silver Springs

Lockerbie -- CIA witness gagged by US government <-- Appears to be same Lindauer

Congressional aide Lindauer, who was involved in early negotiations over the Lockerbie trial, claims Fuisz made "unequivocal statements to me that he has first-hand knowledge about the Lockerbie case".

MediaWatch -- 09/01/1993 -- Revolving Door: Democrat to Democrat to... <-- Gives dates of Lindauer's stint with US News (1990-91)

MediaWatch -- 03/01/1994 -- Revolving Door: Tara Helps Tony <-- More dates ...

Susan Lindauer, a reporter with U.S. News & World Report from 1990 to 1991, has switched Democratic offices within the Oregon congressional team. She's jumped from the office of Peter DeFazio, where she had been Press Secretary, to handle the same duties for Ron Wyden.

Fun with Google!

Susan Lindauer, the spy for Iraq worked as Sen. Carol Moseley Braun Press Secretary and as a journalist.

And those two brothers that were also indicted....I just wonder if they have anything in common with Scott Ritter.

I want to know WHO the OFFICIAL government official she went to with a deal!!!!

The indictment said Lindauer met on two occasions in Baltimore in June and July with an undercover FBI agent who posed as a Libyan intelligence representative who was seeking to support resistance groups in postwar Iraq. It said she discussed the need for plans and foreign resources to support these groups.

Libyan? Very interesting given her connection to cover up attempts of Libya's involvement with Lockerbie, as noted by others at FR.

So, was she a Libyan agent too? She solicit Libya before? Did Libya tip us off to her too? ARe the reports shying from the Libya connection out of deference to betterment of our relations with Libya.?

Just some thoughts...

On January 8, 2003, prosecutors said, Lindauer tried to influence U.S. foreign policy by delivering to the home of a U.S. government official a letter in which she conveyed her access to and contacts with members of Saddam's regime. The official was not identified in the indictment.

Hmmmm, gets interesting, wonder why the AP article fails to mention this:

Iraq Spy Suspect Worked for Congressional Democrats

"She worked for Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., when he was a U.S. congressman, and in 1996 shifted to one-term former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun of Illinois, best known lately for her doomed-from-the-start presidential campaign. She also worked at Fortune, U.S. News & World Report and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Associated Press reported."

(My Take) She took a second copy of the letter to Dan Rather. Doesn't anyone wonder how Dan got that interview?

Here are some dates of employment from an article in the Weekly Standard:

Susan Lindauer's Work Record

The woman charged with spying for the Iraqi Intelligence service spent the 1990s working on Capitol Hill.

ONE SUSAN LINDAUER was arrested today on charges that she acted as a spy for the Iraqi Intelligence service, and accepted $10,000 for the information she gathered. See the full story here.

Lindauer is identified as a "Tacoma, MD woman" in news accounts, which allege that she made multiple visits from October 1999 through March 2002 to the Iraqi Mission to the United Nations in New York. She also traveled to Baghdad in February and March of 2002.

As of April 2002, a Susan Lindauer was in the employ of Democratic Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Lindauer previously worked in the press offices of Democrats Rep. Peter DeFazio of Oregon (from approximately May 1993 to January 1994), Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon (starting in January 1994), and Former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun of Illinois (from January 1996 to September 1996).

Lindauer also gave a deposition in the investigation of the 1998 Lockerbie airline terror bombing.

Moseley Braun says that she "doesn't remember" Lindauer. But a spokesman for one of the congressmen confirmed that it was "extremely likely" that the woman in question was a former congressional aide and press secretary for the four Democratic congressmen.

Katherine Mangu-Ward is a reporter at The Weekly Standard.
