MADRID, Spain (AP) -- At least one explosion rocked a Madrid train station Thursday, news reports and witnesses said.

Police cars raced to the Atocha station after the early morning explosion. An Associated Press reporter saw a woman with a bloodied face outside the station. Medics were seen treating at least three people.

People living near the station said they heard at least two blasts.

Explosion in a station of the center of Madrid (radios)

An explosion occurred Thursday morning in the station of Atocha, in full center of Madrid, brought back several Spanish radios quoting of the witnesses.

According to witnesses' quoted on line by the private radio Cadena Ser, an explosion occurred little after 07h30 (06h30 GMT) on board a suburban train to the approach of the station, of which all the district was buckled by the police force and towards which joined of the ambulances.

Other witnesses affirmed that one second and even a third explosion occurred on board another suburban train.

Israel Radio reports multiple terror attacks. Many casualties, dead and injured. People on their way to work. Some explosions at one Train station, explosion at another, and also at a quarter near by. Explosions happened at the same time. 5 explosions total. Reporter mentions the fact Spain does have soldiers in Iraq, so it may be connected. Doesn't seem like ETA.

Several people have died and others have been hurt when exploding three devices in the stations of neighborhoods of in the railway stations of Atocha, Santa Eugenia and the Well. The chain of explosions has begun on the 7,45 hours, although RNE informs into other two devices have exploded in the capital. The confusion is enormous and the authorities have suspended the circulation of the meter and the BIRD, while sanitary units take care of the tens of wounded .
