Interesting...So does it follow that the temperature of the earth was more uniform at one time and now has polar caps due to global cooling. What was going on, say in Africa, 70 million years ago? Guess it's time for a notepad.

Beginning with the break-up of Pangea (sp?), the single original continent on Earth, Antarctica was close to the Equator when it first broke away and began to slide and move.
So, jungles and dinosaurs were logical to be there, early on.
