Fan of Incubus? Well then you'd better understand the band's hateful anti-Bush message

Posted on 03/06/2004 5:35:02 PM PST by jmcclain19

Lyrics to Incubus' newest hit Megalomaniac

And in case you have any doubts as to who the song is about, the video has shots of GWB in it.

From the album "A Crow Left Of The Murder"

I hear you on the radio
You permeate my screen
Its' unkind, but if I met you in a scissor fight
I'd cut off both your wings on principle alone
On principle alone

Hey megalomaniac
You're no Jesus
Yeah, you're no f***ing Elvis
Wash Your hands clean (or Yourself)
Baby yeah
Step down
Step down

If I were your appendages
I'd hold open your eyes
So you would see
That all of us are heaven sent
There was never meant to be only one
To be only one

Hey megalomaniac
You're no Jesus
Yeah, you're no f***ing Elvis
Wash Your hands clean (or Yourself)
Baby yeah
Step down
Step down

Yeah
You're no Jesus
You're not Elvis
...
You're no answer

Hey megalomaniac
You're no Jesus
Yeah, you're no f***ing Elvis
Wash Your hands clean (or Yourself)
Baby yeah
Step down
Step down

Nothing like passing off your hateful message as music.

I actually liked the song, until I saw the video with clips of W in it. So I went and found these lyrics, and it all makes perfect sense.

Found the lyrics on LeosLyrics.com

I saw the video when it premiered, and it was disgraceful. I didnt have to pay close attention to the lyrics. It's just as blatant a Bush/Hitler comparison as the MoveOn ad.

For the life of me I still haven't seen what Dubya has done that has engendered such hatred from some quarters. Talking to them you'd think he was the devil incarnate.

Odd how W would be in agreement with them on the matter of him (W) not being Jesus. He never claimed to be. Where did these nincompoops get such an idea?

Saw that on a lefty website - literally - the writer claimed Bush is anti-Christ. I tell you, they're all going over the edge in their seething rage.

It's about good vs evil. Good wants to enhance the individual and strengthen society as a truimph over tribalism. Evil wants to enslave the individual and destroy society as a truimph of despotism. It's really that simple.

Nothing like passing off your hateful message as music.

It's okay. Y'see, whenever I see Hillary show up on the 'tube, I just crank up one of my favorite songs titled "Public Servant" (by Todd Rundgren) for full effect...

Chorus:
Public servant, public slave
It's one single slide from the cradle to the grave
Can't remember why you're still in the race
To be a public servant, public slave

You got to know who Satan is
You know you made him come alive
You let the yahoos write the script
When you sold your soul to survive
I only want to hear my voice
Come on, hit me where I live
Let's imagine we had a choice
Let's pretend we're persuasive

[Chorus]

I guess it keeps you off the street
I guess you couldn't find honest work
And you're content to follow the fleet
Hanging 'round with world-class jerks
I guess you can't have too little class
Sometimes it pays to have no soul
Just keep your mindset in the past
And your head up your a - - - - - -!

It's not as if we couldn't cope
It's not as if the Pope eloped
It's just as if you're out of hope
And if you can't stand twice as tall
If you're too afraid to fall
If you haven't got the--
Haven't got the balls
Cut 'em loose!

[Chorus]

Thankfully Incubus sucks, so avoiding their music won't be much of a burden. The only think memorable about them is that their lead singer looks like Keanu Reeves. Probably shares his depth of political insight as well.

He won in 2000, that's what he did to get all their hatred. Their anger at him is amazing to watch. Many of them aren't old enough to remember a time when people may not have voted for a president, but they still respected him for the office he held and didn't consider him the anti-Christ!

Actually I had, but unless your a punk fan or are looking for that sort of thing, you'd never be exposed to it. Incubus is a popular band - and that's the No. 1 rock song in the US right now. I imagine if more people listened to the lyrics or read them, as I just did, I would bet that song's popularity would plummet

I once saw Crosby, Stills, and Nash in concert and between songs Graham Nash came out with this idiotic rant against Reagan (this was in the '80s). Something about how Reagan didn't care about the homeless. He was roundly booed by the audience, which I thought was hilarious. He was so PO'd, I thought he was going to walk out.
