What was FDR doing when Pearl Harbor was attacked? (RUSH's question)

Rush just asked what FDR was doing when he heard the news of Pearl Harbor being attacked. He was talking about the snide remarks by the liberal media about how Bush was talking to a bunch of school kids when "3,000 people were murdered."
Looks like a job for FReeper sleuths!
Was FDR... (gasp!)... Snacking on brunch in the Oval Office study?!

"Word of the attack reached President Roosevelt as he lunched in his oval study on Sunday afternoon."

I think OneRatToGo was referring to the first time the WTC was attacked [on Clinton's watch].

One of FDR's 1944 main campaign slogans was "Don't change horses in mid-stream."

clinton was probably doing the same thing he was doing when he was discussing troops movements in Bosnia.

We know where President Bush was on 9/ 11. Where was John Kerry ? Getting a face lift ? Fondling his medals ? Hiding in Teresa's shoe closet ? Canoodling with the downstair's maid ? Gazing lovingly at his reflection ? Spitting on soldiers in uniform ?

"Word of the attack reached President Roosevelt as he lunched in his oval study on Sunday afternoon."
Should read "Word of the attack reached President Roosevelt as he lunched in his oval office on Sunday afternoon, expectantly anticipating the assault he had so carefully manoevered the stupid Japanese military into launching.
Mr. Roosevelt felt it had become essential for the U.S. to enter the war at that point as Hitler had broken his pact with FDR's deal "Uncle Joe" and perfidiously attacked the Soviet Union. Consequently, Mr. Roosevelt had been plotting and scheming for months as to how he might be able to a) get American involved in the war to save Stalin, and b) how to avoid his campaign promise not to get us involved in the first place. Thanks to his careful scheming and the obtusness of the Japanese High Command, he succeeded>"

I'm sure the major networks will all do followup stories about this... It's not like they are attacking the President in a time of war for partisan purposes....

EXCELLENT FIND! This is the kind of stuff we need to throw right back into the Democrats faces.
I have no problem with the fact that FDR used Pearl Harbor as a campaign issue. It happened on his watch and how he handled it after wards is a LEGITIMATE campaign issue.
Same goes for GW and he has handled it superbly.

Rush might want to leave this one alone. FDR likely knew an attack of some sort was in the works. There are wackos on the right who honestly believe Bush knew an attack was being planned but did nothing to stop it. The fact that there is nothing to the leftist paranoia doesn't mean it won't be repeated. Better to leave an analogy between FDR and Bush alone.

Interesting idea. Sounds like a good topic for a vanity.
