Why Isn't There a Conservative Answer to MoveOn.org?
03-05-2004 | Americathy

Posted on 03/05/2004 5:40:02 AM PST by Americathy

I'm new to Free Republic, and I kind of see it as an activist haven for conservatives. But I only heard about it by way of an e-mail link, though once I think I heard Ann Coulter mention it on Hannity & Colmes. I'm sure there are other activist organizations out there, but I have to wonder if conservatives have anything like MoveOn.org. My guess is, no - at least nothing that is visible, or has the backing of huge money from people like George Soros, who I think is a very scary power player. Everyone knows that the Democrats can rely on MoveOn to be its mouthpiece, which means they have a way to get around campaign laws.

I saw an article linked on this site, by Mona Charon, that advises Bush to take the gloves off. If we had a MoveOn.org of our own, with the money to produce commercials, perhaps we could put those gloves on for ourselves. I would love to see some very damaging commercials about John Kerry's post-war record and his voting record. He is a traitor to this country, but all I hear from Republicans is how much respect his service to our country. I would respect it to if he hadn't come back as a traitor. I would love to see some Vietnam Vets step up to the plate on primetime.

Hillary is another problem. We need to crush her. I didn't hear a thing about Hillary's pro-Saddam comments this week until I saw a thread on this site, the article by Oliver North. I would love to see some commercials made by our own activist group that denounces her viciously. Put these rotten people's records in primetime. We must expose them and hit them with both barrels!

If there is an conservative organization that is comparable to MoveOn.org, please let me know, and I'll join up. After that I'll be asking, "Why haven't I heard of you? Is it me? And if you are out there, where are the commercials, the ads, the visibility? Do you have a big power player, an answer to Soros?"

Just some thoughts, and I would interested to hear what everybody thinks.

If we could only take it to the next step and force the media to contend with us ....

Got any ideas?

Could it possibly be that consevatives have real jobs, real families, and real lives that occupy their time?

That's what I vote for. As I said in my November 19, 2000 thread SF Pro-Gore Rally Organizer: Polygamous Bisexual Sado-Masochist Pagan Activist regarding the rare, well-attended pro-Bush march in San Francisco demanding an end to the Florida recounts:

Nowadays, it doesn't take much to get folks on the left to take to the streets, especially in San Francisco (where I live). At just about any time, there can be a protest or march or sit-in for matters as diverse as "racial profiling," welfare reform, labor union issues, gentrification, Mumia Abu-Jamal, lack of school funding, violence against prostitutes, medical marijuana, and any of a variety of gay causes.

On the other hand, to get conservatives motivated to march among total (and possibly hostile) strangers, it takes a little more than just disagreement. The situation needs to be a little more special - like high crimes and/or misdemeanors by the President of the United States, or the possible theft of a Presidential election.

Of course, that doesn't stop the brain damaged from floating their own theories of why we aren't obsessively organized. Remember years ago when Rosie O'Donnell (Still passing for heterosexual at that time) said she worried briefly about offending Republicans in her audience, but then reasoned, "What Republicans are watching daytime television? They're too busy trying to make more money than anybody else.'"

<< Why Isn't There a Conservative Answer to MoveOn.org? >>

Because we neither form nor support organized criminal gangs and conduct our election campaigns above board within the Law?

Or because FReeRepublic.com is so far above and ahead of such bottom-feeding lunatic-left-wing fringer slime pits of Goebbelian Big Lies as to not need to either look back and down at them, to stoop to their level -- or to dignify them with our comment.

Better we afford that gang the dignity of the consequences of its own action. And let the Law take its course.

I don't understand why you feel the need to attack me when I am merely asking questions. I already said I was new to all this. Most people who responded have given me good information I can use for the future. You have given me only enough to know that if I were to attend one of these protests, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near YOU.

I'm doing plenty already...by the way -- I don't know a single voter who plans on voting Democratic in 2004. I guess I just hang out with better people.

"If there is an conservative organization that is comparable to MoveOn.org, please let me know, and I'll join up."

MoveOn.org started out as a poisonous attempt to somehow mimic the growing influence of Free Republic on the Internet. They have not and can in no way ever match it in membership, or hit rate. They are essentially the deformed child of the Clinton War Room denizens, created to dis-inform and obfuscate the real issues behind the impeachment of the most corrupt man ever to hold the office of President of the United States, Bill Clinton.

The people behind this effort have taken on the role of Hillary's once White House based corrupt political attack machine. IMHO, as the mouthpiece of the Clintons, they do not represent the thinking of even a dwindling rank and file of the Democrat party, much less any significant segment of the general public.

Therefore, I personally wouldn't want to be "comparable" to an organization that engages so routinely in the kind of fraud and dissembling MoveOn.org is infamous for. Members of The Free Republic have tried our best to be better than that, and I think we have to the greatest extent succeeded.

One word explains it: Money. The difference between Moveon.org and FreeRepublic.com is that Moveon.org has George Soros' money but Conservative billionaires haven't stepped up to the plate and ponyed up $50 million so we can re-elect Bush.

I would say this post was a bingo. MoveOn.Org is essentially a money laundering operation of the left. I'm sure there are some conservatives who are willing to abuse our nation this way, but for the most part those lacking morals to that extent are on the left.

I am not sure where you are located, but many areas have chapters who do get out in the streets and get active. Check on your state here on FR and see if you have one.

I believe you are all correct. Mr. Axtell makes a good case, and certainly I wouldn't want this or any other organization to become a propaganda attack machine, spinning lies and half truths. What bothers me is precisely what is true about MoveOn.org. If this group is a counter to FR, and started out not so long ago, it is truly awful how quickly they found people like Soros to fund them, and how quickly the media started making MoveOn.org a household word. My own mother knows just about nothing about politics, but even she knew who MoveOn.org was when I mentioned it! That's really sad.

Thanks! With this one post I've found more websites than any search gave me. Many thanks to all.

I noticed on on the W-04 site some links, one Vets for Bush. My cousin came home not long ago from Germany, he was in Iraq for quite awhile, stationed somewhere in the southern part of the country. I asked him if the troops were pro Bush and he said, "Well, there are a few stray liberals out there, but I've rarely known a soldier who didn't adore Bush." I asked how he thought they would feel about Kerry and he said, "If we weren't disciplined military men, we'd probably invade D.C. and depose him. No one wants to have that traitor as a commander in chief!"
