Sen. Clinton to Dobbs: 'No' on VP Nomination

Senator Hillary Clinton told CNN’s Lou Dobbs Wednesday night she has no interest in becoming Senator John Kerry’s running mate on the Democratic ticket this year. Dobbs asked Senator Clinton, point blank, “Do you want to be vice president?”

Mrs. Clinton met the question with a chuckle, and responded, “No. I’m having a great time being senator, and talking to you about an issue that I care deeply about.”

The “issue” Mrs. Clinton referred to was the subject of her interview with Dobbs, her effort to reduce the “exporting” of U.S. jobs.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Clinton announced several proposals to prevent or discourage U.S. companies from outsourcing to foreign countries.

“Senator Clinton wants tax credits for corporations, for businesses that create and keep jobs in this country. The senator also wants to create a manufacturing research agency to advance factory innovation,” Dobbs said.

Mrs. Clinton’s comments were refreshingly candid and strikingly more pro-business that Senator Kerry's positions. Sen. Clinton admitted that the U.S. tax code was forcing some businesses to export jobs.

“We need to look at our tax code and be honest about what it does produce, the consequences of the actions that we're taking,” Sen. Clinton said.

“The debate we're having now in the Senate that was brought about because of the European Union threatening tariffs against us if we didn't end an effort to provide subsidies to manufacturers here at home gives us an opportunity to begin to create a bipartisan consensus along a range of possibilities that will help us keep jobs and prevent the exporting of America.”

There are no other options.

Sure there is. She could know that Kerry will never ask and prefers to turn it down preemtively.

She forgot to mention that she helps consulting companies that outsource jobs -

March 10, 2003 (Buffalo, NY) TATA Consultancy Services (TCS), Asia’s largest information technology firm and America’s second fastest-growing IT consultancy, today announced that it has opened its newest North American office in Buffalo, New York. The deal was the brainchild of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), who is dedicated to bringing new businesses to the state of New York, and was facilitated by the Confederation of Indian Industry, India’s premier business association.

“From our new office in Buffalo, TCS will provide the best technology and strategy consulting services to help New York’s industries and government streamline their business operations and compete successfully in the digital economy.”

"TCS provides round-the-clock development cycles by working on client projects onsite, offsite, nearshore, and offshore (i.e., overseas). This “around-the-clock” project work cuts development time and offers extremely competitive rates, and the industry’s highest standards for quality."

I think you and Dick Morris are wrong on that. If Kerry picked her, the election would be all about her, Kerry would only be her running mate. Talk about sucking the air out. And the same thing would happen all though his administration.

Secondly she has the highest negatives of any person in the country, especially outside the liberal states Kerry will probably win anyway. Nothing would energize the pub base like Hillary on the ticket. Picking a VP with 50% negatives (higher in the red states) would be suicide, no matter how much money she can raise. Won't happen.

To me, the most damning piece related to negative turnout was the story of how the name Hillary set the record for falling the fastest out of the 1000 most popular names. The slide started dramatically in 1994, and has never stopped. Huge numbers of people are not naming their offspring "Hillary" ever since the beast came onto the national stage and made herself known.
