DICK MORRIS -- "DemocRATS slit their throat tonight"
Al Rantel show | 3-2-04 | dfu

Posted on 03/02/2004 6:31:56 PM PST by doug from upland

Al Rantel and Larry Elder are on KABC with Dick Morris. Dick said that the DemocRATS slit their throats tonight. Kerry was not vetted. He will be seen as a Dukakis liberal.

Bush will spend 150 million dollars in ads up to convention time.

It is too late. Kerry will have the delegates and cannot be un-nominated.

Kerry looked like a reasonable candidate after Howard Dean. When his record is exposed, he will be in deep trouble. Bush must not be nice --- he must use negative ads, go after him, and define him.

Possible for Hillary to take VP spot but Dick thinks Kerry may be in so much trouble by convention time that she will run away screaming.

"but whatever the solid Dem voting base is, they hate him."

To be fair, that may be true, but thats a real "chicken or the egg" statment. The Dem base is constantly changing(mostly declining), so naturally in the race against Dubya... Dubya-haters would be the Dem base.

"Bush does not need to do this JUST YET."

The rest of your post is right... but that statement is dead wrong. Bush can attack Kerry later on... but this is Bush's chance to DEFINE Kerry. Positive ads on Bush will be less effective because we already know Bush, few know about Kerry.

It is my hope that Kerry alone will drive the Pubbie base to the polls. Keep in mind that Gore got vey close and that was plenty bad enough. Kerry must not be allowed to get even close, so get out the vote people!

the Dems bas is not mostly declining at all. demographic changes are bolstering their base (more hispanics). states that used to be toss-ups, like NJ, are solidly Dem. States that used to lean Republican, like PA, now perhaps lean the other way. States that used to be solidly Republican, like FL, are now battlegrounds that lean R. Think about the electoral map for Reagans victory, its impossible for any Republican to achieve anything like that now.

And our current economic trends create more Democrats. As globalism continues to slide middle class americans down the wage scale into service jobs, they tend to vote Democrat because they now view themselves as needing things from government, and the Dems are shaking the bag of candy.

I went to my precinct caucus in New Brighton, Minnesota tonight. 2 years ago there were five in attendance: tonight there were 27 in attendance. No real friction about anything including all the social issues.

Many first timers. Other precincts were about the same. The gay marriage and Janet Jackson thing stirred up considerable angst and determination.

I hope the PResident can make some trips up here. The emotion and morale are very high and we need a pep rally to bolster our efforts.

Rudy will NEVER replace Cheney as V.P.!

I know,I know........the Clintons are capable of doing anything and there was that craziness with the Torch and Lousenburg, but my political guts (which have yet to be wrong!)and knowledge, precludes Hillary being anointed in Boston.Neither will she run as Kerry's V.P.! She wants '08.Gerry Ferraro's being V.P. on a losing ticket,is a good example to look at and there's still far too much dirt, hanging onto the Clintons, for the populace to forget about/ignore...just now.

Dickie hasn't been right about a single thing, since he was outed as the TOE SUCKER! But like a lot of posters to FR, he imagines that acting as though he is an " expert ",others will believe him. LOL

Minnesota is a key state to try and put in the R column.

Think about the electoral map for Carter's '76 victory... it's impossible for any Democrat to acheive anything like THAT now(sweeping the south). Your defeatism is pretty irrational and im not sure what you're trying to gain here. In fact Bush may win an electoral landslide in November if he's popular. The state by state electoral politics are over-done. If the man is popular, he will do well everywhere, if he's unpopular he will do poorly everywhere.

Kerry is a multi-millionare masquerading as a regular guy. He is married to a multi-multi-millionaire, and African-American who is a neocommunist nut case. Between them, they have many household servants (many illegals), many home/apartments/vacation getaways and foreign business interests. They take advantage of all the wealthy's tax breaks - we have to know about that. Kerry is a traitor who actually killed Americans in Nam after he came home. His divorce decree and prenup contain key clues about his nature.

I'm sure Karl Rove has a MASSIVE file of information they can point out about Senator Kerry. Now that Kerry has pretty much sewed up the nomination, he will be on the crosshairs of the Bush/Cheney '04 re-election team, and most of it will be showing that Kerry has a voting record that makes Ted Kennedy look like a centrist in comparison. I have my doubts Kerry will be able to defend against these attacks, especially since most of the USA disagrees with many of Kerry's positions.

By the way, did you hear his speech tonight? His speaking style just bores me to tears.

Washington thrives on rumors- but Cheney isn't going anywhere.

Hillary will do well this election whatever happens.

But last time I checked, Hillary's stream does not go out of the tent but engulfs the spot at which she is. I think you chose the wrong metaphor.

Did anyone else catch Kerry's comment today that he wants to be the second african american president?
That's beyond insulting in so many ways.

Hi,Doug.

I don't think your original prediction is off. Kerry may make it to the convention, but this is the Clintons' party, and rules are only for the little people.

The fat lady with the chunky ankles hasn't sung yet.

Kerry will make it to Boston in July. At the convention there will be "problems", and the super delegates are going to be induced to switch to someone else. I think that person will be Edwards, and Hillary will be "drafted" to be VP.

Edwards has more of a chance than Kerry to beat Bush, and that will be made apparent to the delegates by you know who.
Kerry will have the rug pulled out from under him, and all of the pollsters and media whores will be just ga-ga over the political shenanigans.

Again, for those tuning in late: Hillary as VP is a no lose proposition for her. She's not the frontrunner, so she is not seen as a threat. If the Dems lose(please God!) she has wiped out all Dem competition for '08 and has become her party's nominee by default in '08. If the Dems win, she's the VP. Edwards falls ill or worse, and she becomes Prez, most likely two years in, after she has reconsolidated her power in the Executive branch. Then she is eligible to serve out the remaining two years of Edwards' term, and can run for two more terms for Prez for the decade of Hillary--ten years. By then, she has nullifed the electoral college, and thanks to massive electronic vote fraud in the urban areas, sets herself up for the continual presidency, a la FDR.

By then, Civil War 2 breaks out. Otherwise we are doomed as a constitutional republic.

well sure, when they nominate people from Mass like Kerry.

Nominate a Clinton like Dem from a southern state (without the baggage of a trial lawyer like Edwards), then watch what happens in those "solid" R states in the south. We are lucky that the Dem nominating mechanism is giving us candidates like Kerry (or Dean).

Its not defeatism, its realism, too many people on FR predicting landslides.

Have you ever heard the saying that "VP can't help a ticket, he can only hurt or not hurt". Can you think of a VP pick that would do more "hurt" than Hillary Clinton??? I think the basis of that theory is that people wont vote FOR a VP candidate... but they may vote AGAINST a VP candidate.

but this is Bush's chance to DEFINE Kerry

Agreed

But Bush needs to do this in a "civil" manner that makes Kerry seem like a misinformed fool rather than the treasonous fool we know he is. Piont out the letters to Iran and the flip flops of recent days. Save the realy over-the-top post Vietnam ammo for the fall.

I thought that was good advice Dick had about the Bush campaign coming out negative right away in order to paint a portrait of Kerry that he won't be able to erase when he gets his cash in August.
